Ooh La La? Mmm, Mmm, Good!

It seems that cupcakes have become one of the hotest sweets out there these days and Victoria finally has the first shop devoted to these delicious little treats!

I've been there twice now and sampled many of the flavours and haven't found one that I didn't want more of yet! The cakes have all been fresh, made that day and the frosting (I'm VERY fussy about frosting), no matter what flavour you indulge in, has been creamy, whipped, light and flavourful without being sweet, but rich and decadent! They have cute names for all their cupcakes and have standard set flavours, they also have feature flavours that change regularly as well.

I've tried to figure out what flavour is my favourite, but I have enjoyed all of them. The plain chocolate is wonderful, the feature caramel apple was delicious and lighter with the fresh apples in it. The chocolate mint was like having an After Eight cake! The pineapple coconut was superb and the toasted merengue frosting was absolutely delicious!

I never thought I would be one to pay $3 for a cupcake, but these are nice as a treat or they will wrap them up if you need a little gift for someone. On the weekends they have mini-cupcakes for less in all the flavours (or you can special order them for another day). These little cakes are presented beautifully and I would highly recommend stopping by for a peak and a taste.

I do have one complaint...the location. It's on the corner or Cedar Hill and Hillside, so a difficult location to stop at with very little parking and it's certainly not the type of place you'd often walk by to just "pop in"...it is worth the time to stop and take a look for yourself though, so enjoy!

$3 cupcakes - never again!

These cupcakes are stale and expensive! I treated myself to 6 different cupcakes and only one of them was even slightly edible! the other 5 were extremely stale and artificial tasting. Perhaps I hit the baker on a bad day but I'm not willing to spend my $ again to find out. Store is cute and service is pretty good but I was hesitant to spend that much money on cupcakes in the first place and now that I have with a bad experience, I won't be going back.

First time I went here we got the mini sample pack. It gave us a good idea of how delicious the big ones would be. Although I was a bit sceptical because the cake part was a bit dry, the icings were fantastic!!! A variety of different textures and flavours showed me that they put allot of time and effort into these. I have a hard time just picking one!!! I always want to try different ones so I usually end up buying a 6 pack (you save when you do this) and delivering them to friends!! If I were to pick one I would pick the triple bypass for sure!!!! These aren't just cupcakes they are deliciously decadent little cakes that are hand made, I see no reason not to pay $3 for one.

Visited this restaurant because of a referral from a co-worker who told me I must go on my next visit to Victoria. The cupcakes were amazing! So tasty and fresh. I bought three with the anticipation of bringing them home and eating them over the next few days but I ate them all the same day.
These cupcakes are definitely expensive and "gourmet" so probably not something that most would buy for their kids but the value seems fair. Service was helpful and had great suggestions. It is a fun little shop that is clean and central.

I will definitely be back the next time I am in Victoria!

Never thought I would say that a $3 cupcake is good value. Well, here goes...the cupcakes at Ooh La La are worth every single penny. They melt in your mouth and each piece is literally like a little bite of heaven. The ingredients are fresh, and the cream to die for. $3 for a cupcake, I still can't believe I'm saying its worth it...but it so is!
