Food matters the most...totaly unexpected

At first I was not expecting much from the restaurant judging by the decor and the staff being Chinese. However, the sushi fooled me to the point where I nearly over ordered. The fish itself was fresh. The rolls itself were creative and well presented even though it was on styrofoam dish. I highly recommend the BC roll, which melted in my mouth and did not taste fishy, unlike other sushi restaurants, the gigantic scallop magma roll unique only to this restaurant. Though their English is limited, the staff are respectful and attentive. The restaurant also serves Bubble tea which was also addicting. I recommend the Japanese greentea bubble tea which is literally japanese macha mixed with milk combined with pearls.

However, my recent experience was horrible and will not hinder my urge to dine here. It seems as if all restaurants within Dunsmiur have had to shutdown temporarily due to the homeless ppl that vandalize and urinate in the area. I DO NOT MEAN TO SLANDER THEM, as i do feel sorry for them. this restaurant has the potential to improve as well as the area. Homeless should be taken care of by the GOV and restaurant owner should think of moving to another area and improving.

Great Special Rolls

This was a cute restaurant.. It's fairly small.

The normal rolls are average. I'm not quite sure about the quality of the sashimi, though. I ordered a toro nigiri and the quality wasn't there. However, they have a lot of special rolls which are pretty large. I tried a scallop roll with black sauce (volcano-something? Can't remember the name). That was really good. They also have a fried california roll. It's not bad, but the batter is a little too heavy.

They did have a roll combo, I think it was 18 pieces + miso soup for $5.00.

They also have bubble tea and fruit slushes. I tried the avocado slush, which I've never seen anywhere else. It's actually really good.

I went there late at night, and we were the only ones there, so the service was fine.

The place looks really clean, but the decor wasn't really good. There's synthetic flowers and a giant flower wall sticker. I guess they're trying to have a garden theme, but it isn't working.

I'll come back for the special rolls and the avocado slush.

My friends and I were very lucky to stumble upon this place. It's a little hole in the wall, but the sushi is incredible and the prices even better. Granted, many of the rolls are not your traditional sushi (some are all dressed up in a westernized fashion) but regardless, the overall taste is great. Several of the rolls come warmed up with sauces and crisps on top. The golden california roll is one of my favourites.
The husband and wife duo are very nice and welcoming... I think they also recognize me as a regular.
I've been back several times, and will continue to frequent it. I try to get the word out about this place as much as possible... they deserve new business!

Fresh sushi

The rolls are fresh! On different occasions I've tried the dragon roll, scallop magma roll, chopped scallop roll and the California roll and they've all been very fresh (chopped scallop was very good and prawn tempura in the dragon roll was crispy!)

Presentation was nice too as I got them in this Japanese inspired container, instead of just styrofoam. However, I hope these more expensive containers don't hurt the quality in the long run.

Food takes awhile because there's only one person making the sushi so now I just pre-order it.

Prices are decent for downtown.
