I tried California Sushi for the first time this weekend and overall, it was better than I expected. The interior is fairly clean and modern with plenty of seating. Based on the design of the menu, I would say this is the same owners as the Sushi California in Coquitlam.

We ordered a bunch of dishes including spicy tuna cone, spicy scallop cone, chicken yaki soba, wild salmon nigiri, prawn tempura, dynamite roll and a negitoro roll. Everything was good, except for the negitoro roll. It had a funky taste to it like it was off. It tasted a little buttery as well, sort of like escolar. Anyways, I'm not saying they are serving escolar as tuna, that's just what it tasted like.

The service was really good; I was impressed with how quickly dishes came out even though the restaurant was very busy. They were refilling tea and water constantly, almost annoyingly so. The pricing is very reasonable as well.

I will probably try Sushi California again even with the negitoro roll because its close to where I live and very reasonably priced.
