Mrs. C and I were looking for chow and we had heard good things about this place. We decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself is not fancy, but it was clean and welcoming. Even the w/c was tidy, if a bit dated. The friendly manager seated us right away and explained the various daily specials.

They have a huge variety and it took us a while to decide. I settled on the lamb shank special and Mrs. C had the beef ribs. For starters we had chowder and Caesar salad. I was amazed to find out that the resident chef makes the bread and dinner rolls on site. I accompanied my meal with an inexpensive beer in the frostiest glass I have ever seen. For desert we shared a piece of home made mascarpone cheesecake.

All the food was terrific, and the service was excellent with no less than 3 quality checks. Plus it was very inexpensive. I was especially impressed with the home made baked goods. That was a huge bonus. I plan on a return visit soon to try their home made breakfast waffles.

The gf and I again had a difficult time deciding on a place to eat for a midweek dining excursion; ultimately a diner type restaurant fit the bill.

A little disheartening to see only 2 other occupied tables but we were happily greeted and was offered a seat anywhere. The drab yet clean interior made the rainy day feel somewhat despondent, though I'd say is mostly due to the dim lighting and low customer turnout.

My gf's bacon, mushroom and cheese burger hit the mark for her. Big juicy patty, thick, crisp bacon and a lovely toasted bun marked the feeling of satisfaction. The straight-cut french fries were crisp, golden and rounded off a pleasing meal, all for less than $6, so amazing she mentioned it several times over. My veal cutlet wasn't quite what I expected, looking and tasting either like a really good piece of chicken-fried steak or a decent utility grade veal chop. Whatever it was, I still enjoyed it. It was nice to see that the toss-in peas and carrots at least looked to be better than frozen bag variety, the carrots angle sliced versus the usual uniformed cubes. My entree also came with a fresh dinner roll and salad, quite a bargain.

We didn't quite get the cozy service the other reviewers seem to have gotten, perhaps an off day, but they sure did look friendly. She did come by to go over the specials but we were otherwise balked for checkups. Again, we'll assume an off day but the service rating is a bit of a stretch; 2.5 rather.

Two tasty entrees and two cokes for $21 and change is pretty remarkable. I say yes.

Best Bang for the Buck Breakfast!

I love this place...
I dont know why anyone would go to a place like Denny's for a $12 breakfast when you can have breakfast here, 2 eggs, hash browns, sausage/bacon/ham, toast for $3.95...

They have the breakfast special for most of the morning/early afternoon, and even offer all day breakfast (but its around $1.50 more in the evening).

Although the place isnt that appealing visually, its very clean. The service is very good (i dont even need a menu anymore and both the owners and their daughter always know exactly what the wife and I are going to order).

I've been going to this place on average once every 2 weeks, and sometimes multiple times a week for the past 5 or so years and I'll continue going there for breakfast in the future.

The rest of their menu has quite a large variety of options...and is very well priced as well...especially their other daily pasta, sandwich specials...

If You Don't Mind the Decor...

No one would call this place trendy or hip, but for value for the food, it's easy to look past. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops to start, which were delicious. Then our entrees came with soup, rice and veggies. The braised brisket was surprisingly tender! I didn't care much for the peas and carrots that came with the meal, but its a small peeve. All of this came down to $20 for two people. Not bad at all!

You've driven by here a million times. The name doesn't turn you on. It's just east of BCAAs' office on the north side of Broadway at Oak St.
We just happened in there one sunday evening and what a suprise.
The menu is extensive in fact it's difficult to choose. We opted for the standing rib.Medium rare as is our normal choice.
We were first served home made rolls warm and excellent. The beef arrived medium rare exactly as ordered accompanied by Yorkshire wonderful gravy.vegetables certainly all one could eat.
Fresh brewed coffee. It was just a wonderful unexpected delight.
If you're looking for glamourous decor, this isn't the place. If you're looking for great food at an unbelieably low price, give them a try.Lots of seniors here.Owner operated and most accomodating.
