Planet Veg serves up fun, tasty and healthy vegetarian fast food. Perfect for a picnic at Kits Beach. Planet Veg accepts cash, credit card, debit card.
I've been here many times and strongly recommend the Mexican burger. It is very spicy and my favorite item on the menu. My GF orders some wrap of some sort which she is very happy with. My only complaint is the tables are filthy. It is like they never clean them. That concerns me a bit about the overall hygiene of the place. The ambiance also lacks and the place looks dated. I do like the sitar music. However, the owners are usually around and they are from India, so the food is the real deal and quite delicious.
I've been coming to this place for years now and truly have nothing bad to say about it. The food is terrific and the price helps as well. Its a great place to go if you are on the run and want take out, My favourite is the spinach samosa and mexi burger. My wife loves the many different vegan options. The mango lassi is incredible!
On the hunt for some good veggie food I stumbled about this small restaurant in Kits.
Surprise..surprise...the food is quite delicious and fresh.
Indian-based food with a touch of fusion-perfect combination.
The prices are reasonable, although I found that sometimes the portions are not big enough.
Their baked samosas are VERY good, but make sure you get at least 3..otherwise you'll ask for more:)
... would be to send everyone there to try at least one menu item. I found this joint on a walk back from Kits beach one day and thought I'd try it. The first thing I ever had there was a spinach-tofu samosa, and it was the greatest little deep-fried snack I've ever had! Tasted like a spanakopita without the gross overpowering dill spice to it. It was amazing. The Katmandhu roll is my other fave, it's delicious and very filling for a sandwich-type thing.
Very friendly service, not too common in a fast-food joint(Budgies, anyone?). There's not much to the ambiance but it's definetly not meant to impress with lavish decor and music; it's small, there aren't many tables to sit, and the place was more than likely made for people who want to grab something to go. Still, you can definetly sit inside to enjoy your food and not be bothered by pestering waiters, excessively loud music, or bees(!).
I go there EVERY TIME I'm in Kits, it's nothing extravagant or high-end but it sure is delicious, and easy on the wallet. And need I mention HEALTHY? (I mean, even deep-fried items are far healthier than any greasefest burger you'd have anywhere else!)
Most of the items include a delicious mix of potatoes and chick peas, and I think that is what lends to the fullness factor of the menu. Not much to say about this place, it has decent food at a decent price... a great alternative to greasy burgers at Triple O's. I will grab a bite here again when I am in the area.
This little family-run cafe has been a favourite of mine for years. The food is mostly Indian, although toned down for a Western palate (there are items like vegie burgers, too), and wonderfully fresh and healthy. Some of their own creations are the best - be sure to try the Kathmandu Roll (spicy chickpeas, cucumber, and crispy noodles in a wrap) - healthy and filling, and even yummier when you pour on their wonderful tamarind sauce.
All dishes are around $5-7 - an incredible bargain. There are only a few tables inside, and a couple outside, but somehow there's always one free. The family who runs this place is friendly and kind - if you're in the area, you must check it out (even if you're not vegetarian).
Stopped here for dinner before bard. There are a few tables to sit down at, so we ate in. We all ordered the curry combo, thinking it would be a good combination of the menu. For $10, the plate included Lentil soup, spinach puree, rice serving, laddu and naan bread. All was served on a divided metal tray with quite small portions. The food was clearly microwaved after ordering, even the naan was pita bread that had been quartered and reheated. The flavors did not compensate for the reheat either. All were bland and uninspired. A real shame that a place offering vegetarian fare would do such a poor job. Save your money and get some better tasting indian on main or fraser street.
Always a great experience. A great find for healthy and deliciously filling food. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are large. Service is friendly and quick. Highly recommend the Bombay roll or Garden veggie burger combos. Not a vegetarian and this is still one of my favorite picks of the neighbourhood. Never disappoints!
cheap + delicious + healthy AND vegetarian!
what more could you ask for?
The food is so flavourful and the chutney must have a secret ingredient (wink wink) cause it is addictive! They have the freshest Samosas I have ever tasted. The Owners and employees are always very friendly. This place is a vegetarian fast-food heaven!
