Can't say much about this place, because I always take my food to go.
Been here several times for thier sushi before going to work, did think at the time it was ok, but realized there are so many other Sushi places in the Pender area where you get more bang for your buck, even if they aren't as *FANCY* as this place
I realize this is a restaurant (In the downtown area) and they have thier expenses as well and not just your average take out places.
You are probably paying for ambiance really. I prefer putting my money towards food, so I won't be returning (especially since I only go for take out)
When with friends for the first time in a long time not expecting good things BUT it was really good. I didn't recognise any staff so I guess there must be new owners.
The lady who greeted us was so friendly (almost too friendly) and although they were super busy we were taken care of really efficiently.
We all had a bento box with mine being teriyaki chiken which was really juicy and not too sweet. The Tempura was good and the sashimi was really fresh and just pleasing to my mouth.
Was a pleasant experience except it took a while to pay the bill at the end so if you are in a hurry ask for your bill with lots of time to spare.
I go there sometimes and think the taste is not bad, service is about average. Since last year, size of the food has a noticable shrink. The portion has become at least 20% smaller, I am not a big eater but still feel hungry after the meal and it would be too costly to order two portion of food for lunch. May be instead of shrinking the size, should just raise the price or cut other costs. I like the food there, it's sad to see less customers are coming and that eventually the restaurant has to close due to not enough business.
The fish smelled pretty fishy, as if it had been lying around for a long time. They made a big deal about "wild salmon vs farmed", which didnt do anything for me. The waiter couldn't understand English. The portions were VERY small, and when I got the usual "three maki rolls" combo that most sushi places have, I got maybe 60% in terms of actual volume because the individual pieces were so small. Even cheap stuff like white rice is given in very small portions, but the price doesn't really reflect this, because this place is more expensive than the usual sushi place (although it IS downtown, so its probably not entirely their fault). Its OK for once in a while.
