Great To Go & Eat In

Small little place across from Kits beach - delicious flavours and dishes. Good portions. I often go here if I don't feel like cooking. The service has always been friendly and relatively fast. Except if you order the seasonal Mango sticky rice dessert - that takes a bit to prepare. It's quick, yummy, & inexpensive. Overall, not bad.

I've patronized this location exactly twice, and was happy both times. I gave four stars as the Benefit of the Doubt review - I didn't spend enough time there to really be wowed or zinged either way.

I have a thing for spring rolls, and these are some of the best I've had. It's a bit pricy - $5.61 (plus tax) for four normal sized spring rolls - but their 'tweaked' plum sauce is To. Die. For.

I've had them to go, once, and had them in-house, once - both times were perfect. My friend had the deep-fried tofu, however, and found it pretty bland and a tad oily. But, it's tofu, right? (sorry, have to laugh.)

Overall, the service was pretty darn good considering a bit of a language barrier and how busy they were. The food came quickly, and the water keep being refilled on a hot day - I couldn't ask for more.

This is, primarily, a take-out joint - as evidenced by the magnificent stack of magazines by the front door. With about 10 tables, it's not a place you expect to have a fine-dining experience, but either way you take it, I think you'll be happy.

If only it was clean...

It seemed clean, at first, but I saw the chef chopping raw meat on a counter, wiped it with dirty cloth, and made salad rolls on the same counter! Salad rolls were fresh food, so if there is any vacteria on it, which I'm sure there is a lot, that could cause very serious food poisning problem!
I didn't check carefully, but I don't think the chef washes his hands after touching raw meat!
Also, cashiers/watresses wash dirty dishes and serve food without washing their hands...
Oh, it is not as serious as these clean issues, but one Thai girl working there always talk on the phone with her boyfriend I guess.
Sometimes, the shop's phone was busy for long time so I couldn't order things on the phone, and I went there anyway then I saw the girl was using the phone.... It seemed she had been talking for long time. Commen, girl! Get back to work!!!
Food is decent, though they use MSG for most dishes I guess, and service is alright. Most girls are Japanese who speak poor English, but it's not a problem. I want to enjoy food there, but I can't, after seeing the dirty things...
