They probably just use the "Baskin Robbins" name for their ice cream

I have only eaten thier ice cream so can't say anything about thier food. I had driven by this place several times and thought "Hey cool,. they still have some Baskin Robbins locations" anyhow, I finally had time to go by and get some ice cream from this place. As soon as I walked in, I saw this diner / cafeteria and I was like "WTF?" they have a little area where you can order ice cream. I though "ok, i'll try it"
you're better of going to McDon
This is seriously NOT the Baskin Robbins that I know of. Sure, they real Baskin Robbins stores have been gone for about 10 years, but was kinda hoping they had kept the same recipe.

My guess is, that Mr and / or Ms Baskin Robbins sold thier Canadain Franchaise to "Friendly Banners" and they just use the same name with thier own recipe. The ice cream is NOT terrible, but it definatly is no where near as good as Baskin Robbins would be.

I still think it's cool, that there is still "TECHNICALLY" a Baskin Robbins out there, but you're better of going to McDonald's or even better yet, Dairy Queen for ice cream

I'm a regular, and regularly get bad service from one server
By Wundercat of Commercial Drive Vancouver (1 Review)

I've been going to this place for years, as I only live a few blocks away. The restaurant has improved the quality of their breakfast dishes over the years, and I think they offer solid choices for a decent price. I have never ordered lunch or dinner here, as their offerings are not to my preferences, but breakfast is good.

I don't mind the very outdated and kind of drabby atmosphere. It's a typical diner, very similar to the types of diners I see in small towns. The customers who frequent the place are interesting and it's a fun place to people watch. They have a lot of loyal regulars... just like me.

Most of the servers are really friendly and helpful. Even the busing staff are polite and have welcoming smiles. Unfortunately, there is ONE server who is unfriendly and often rude. I do not like pointing out one person like this, but honestly, she is the only reason I hesitate to spend my money at this place.

I have noticed that this particular server is friendly with a few customers, but mostly she does not smile, barely says hello, does not seem interested in her job or care much about the customers or their needs. She seems to avoid my table as if I may be contagious. I have no idea if I said or did something that offended her, but then again, I don't generally have problems like that. But no matter how nice I am, how much I smile, or how much I tip, this one server always treats me the same. I don't think it's just me, as I have seen her treat many others like this too. It's just really sad, and not professional at all. I am a loyal, long term customer, and yet I do not feel welcome when I am served by this particular server.

Unfortunately, I have gotten nowhere by gently trying to address the issue directly with her. I don't feel comfortable pointing out this server's behaviour to any of her coworkers (although I'm sure they are well aware of it), and there never seems to be a manager onsite. I hope things change, otherwise, I'm going to start spending my money somewhere else.

Rude, bland and never again

I've been going to this restaurant for breakfast mostly because of the location - convenient and not much of a commute. My experience today was the last. Here is why:

- I asked two questions about menu items and after asking the server immediately assumed I was not ready to order and walked away.
- the coffee is so terrible and watered down - makes me wish I was a tea drinker.
- water glass had a big chip on the rim. I politely asked for another glass and the server took the glass, brought another and rudely slammed it on the table when brought to me
- I ordered the corn beef hash. the eggs are so cheap and tasteless
- I asked for replacement eggs - the cook is 'gone for the day' but they still have their open sign on
- the washrooms are so gross worse than a gas station washroom at the worst of times
I'm seriously done with this place. Not the first time I've felt like an unimportant customer at this place and most certainly my last. Not at all recommended.

Banners is a family type restaraunt with a rather large menu.
they have specials for lunch and dinner these can vary quite a bit.
recent they have a clam fettucini with grilled salmon and garlic bread which was very good. overall nice atmosphere and reliable food.

My husband and I eat at Banner's regularly and, while no restaurant is perfect, this one meets our requirements quite nicely, thank you very much. It is clean and the service is fast and friendly -- very important early in the morning and in the evening after a long day at work.

Their breakfasts are particularly good -- eggs, bacon, waffles, and healthy choices galore.

I went here because a loving family member gave me an entertainment book full of coupons including but not limited to a 2-for-1 entree special for Banners. I'm really glad we didn't pay full price. Really glad.
Before I sound like a really picky cheap ass, I've paid less at other diners close by for greater portions and tastier food. I can be pleased.
The chicken quesadilla my buddy ordered was appetizer sized.
The alfredo pasta I ordered was small, greasy, and tasted like milk and margarine till I tried to save it with Tabasco.
Staff there was awesome. I could see people going there for the service... and maybe the Baskin Robin's.
I probably won't go back. There are far better places to go in this city.

Banners is like life: it is what it is

I've been coming to Banner's friendly restaurant for many years now and I think it is definitely better than a lot of people give it credit for. You come in, you order the mountain breakfast, you get your eggs, sausage, toast, potatoes, coffee, as much ketchup as you can eat at no extra cost... What else could one possibly desire of a greasy spoon? They even have old school green diner seats and an ice cream bar. Seriously.

Sometimes people come in and act like they're at Subway with the custom ordering and whatnot, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm getting a mountain breakfast with rye toast and sunny-side up eggs, what you're getting is your problem, you know what I mean?

What is it with the kids these days anyways? With their I-pads and their Tassimo... I'm getting a mountain breakfast, they can get their little microbrew latte at home all they want, I prefer Friendly Banner's because of the mountain breakfast. Seriously. Breakfast on a mountain, come on. Get real. You eat it and you practically have to take your meds early to keep yourself from going skying. On a mountain.
