I had never heard of this restaurant until a friend suggested it. We are so glad we came!!
The place is not very big but it's dimly lit and cozy. The drinks are soo good, we all enjoyed the Moscow mules and mojitos. We shared crab cakes and chicken wing appetizers, these were all very tasty. And then dinner! The portions were very generous and presented nicely. Tasted amazing! Everyone really enjoyed their food. I had local salmon and risotto, definitely recommend it. Can't wait to go back, only thing to keep in mind is that it can get a little loud.

Fruit Flies Anyone ?

Myself and three friends went here for lunch over the weekend. We were all really hungry and looking forward to some delicious grub.
We sat down and got our menus .. ordered and then waited a while.
Once our food came out it didn't exactly look amazing but we began munching away ..
and then they came .. like extra seasoning flying around our plates ... dreaded fruit flies !
To be honest I ate my food feeling a little nauseous that I was accidentally going to chomp down on one.
The food was OK but with the fruit flies flying around everywhere it was extremely off putting.
I never write these reviews .. but I felt pretty strongly about this so needed to write.

Don't think i will be returning .. unless I turn into a spider.

Wow. When I read a previous review I was excited and planned for twelve friends to go to this new spot. It was a big disappointment. So disappointing that I am writing a negative review for the first time, ever. I won't go so far as rating below 2 though, because I think it has great potential.

The first bad sign was the fact that the TV over the bar was on during the dinner seating, and that they were playing The Wedding Crashers. When it ended they played the DVD menu screen for about an hour, before the replayed the movie. Lame. The space is so nice that I was surprised they would cheapen it like that.

The music was all over the place. Music should really be curated to fit the impression a restaurant is going for. The music did not match the nice space and stylish branding.

When one person ordered a classic gin martini it came without olives. Odd.

The food was, well, not good. Cheap. The pizza was thick and doughy. The Margarita pizza had one piece of basil on it even though that was listed as one of the main ingredients. The ceviche was very over done. Too bad we ordered three orders of it. No one was very thrilled with their food.

The place felt like it was run by teenagers.

A few good things: The server was great, the space is excellent, pretty good bathrooms (but not maintained through the evening). Lots of potential. But they shouldn't play the TV unless there is a good reason — it brings the level of the place down. Maybe that's what they are going for, and I had overly high expectations.

For a place just off Main it should have been packed, and could be if they raised the level of food and paid a little attention to some ambiance details.

What a great little addition to the Main Street restaurant scene. I went to 8 1/2 for dinner last night after reading a review and I was very impressed. We sat at the bar, and the server was sweet, attentive, and very "real". She seemed genuinely interested in our thoughts. I was very impressed with the wine list, nice glass of Grey Monk was only $5.50, and it was a decent pour! Food was fantastic: fresh flavours, healthy, and very reasonably priced. Some interesting items on the menu that aren't on every other menu in Vancouver too.
The restaurant is still very new and has not completed the decor (art not up yet), but overall it was a cosy little place that I will definitely return to again and again!
