Cheap, greasy but tasty food court fare at Yaohan Center

This is one of the many food stalls located at the Yaohan Center food court. (Across the steet from Aberdeen Center.) There is fierce competition between the food stalls there with hot steam tables of prepared foods. You can easily get a filling meal for 5$+change. It's probably not the healthiest food choices as lots of items are fried and according to my friend's mom they do use MSG, but all the stalls there do. One of my guilty pleasures is pork chops with the bone in, and this stall has one of the best. Lately it's been the salt and chili kind but I like the one with hints of Worschester sauce better. The veggie dish here is pretty good too as it includes enoki mushrooms and a few other good vegetables. Lately they've been slicing up the gai-lan so it's not huge stalks and it's more chopstick sized which I like. I also like their steamed chicken with ginger/green onion topping. To keep the fat in check I avoid the fried rice and noodles and go with the simple steamed rice. While not the most gourmet or healthiest of foods the food here at these stalls are solid. They remind me a little bit of the Singapore hawker stalls where there is fierce competition ensuring good food. Good for a quick stop on the way home from the airport or for visitor's to get a glimpse of what malls in Asia are like. They also offer inexpensive catering.
