L'Artista Ristorante Italiano3891 E. Hasting Street, Burnaby
It's okay but wouldn't go back again

a week ago, we booked this restaurant (6 of us) for a friends gathering. One of the friends picked this since L'artista is close to all of us.

the reservation was pretty smooth I have to say and we didn't wait too long before we got seated. can't compliment the ambiance because it was a little too "old" for me. I know probably it was for a "Traditional Italian Family Style".

the waitress was nice but a bit too shy for me (not knowledgeable about the menu items enough). I ordered Veal Ravioli, and the sauce was way too salty and not fresh too me (I had to drink so much water after). The sauce feels like it was from a canned creamy mushroom sauce poured on top of canned pasta instead of freshly made sauce and hand made pasta (I mean that's what I would expect from a Italian restaurant not a supermarket). the sauce was also too thick. The veal ravioli was not impressive since I couldn't taste the "meat"....

I would not go back again!

Pacifico Pizzeria & Ristorante970 Smithe Street, Vancouver
had a good experience

this is a really good Italian restaurant with a little urban twist. Compares to other Italian restaurants that promoting "portion size", "family style", or "authenticity", Pacifico is definitely a modern Italian restaurant that offers modern ambiance, right amount of portion size, delicious qualify dishes, five-star service, and of course, reasonable prices (at a location in the heart of downtown Vancouver, I consider the pricing is reasonable).

I ordered Gnocchi with seafood and roasted galic mushroom sauce (5 or 6 large prawns, 5 or 6 large scallops). the sauce was divine, and the Gnocchi was chewy and freshly made, so good..! my friend ordered veal tortellini with Italian sausage and tomato sauce, which was also delicious!

I love the size options (u can order a regular sized dish or with 4 or 5 dollars less for a smaller-sized).the only thing should be remembered next time is to remind the server if you would like the smaller-sized option. (the server doesn't ask if we would like the smaller-sized or regular-sized, so we both got the regular-sized). we both got the regular-sized pasta, but I think next time will order the smaller options cause we couldn't finish our plates. our server always came over refill water, checking food quality, and taking away finished dishes.

Overall, we had a good time at Pacifico Restaurant and will go back again.
