Great dinner out
Submitted Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 11:08pm [Dine in]

We recently moved to Langley so we were excited when we heard about this near-by restaurant & thought we'd give it a try. We saw some gift certificates in Costco - we paid about $75 for $100 in gift certificates, so it seemed like a great way to get a discount on dinner.

Dinner was great - we took the advice of earlier reviews and both had tenderloin steak that came with amazing garlic mashed potatoes - yummmm!!! I had a fantastic martini on recommendation of our server - it was a sour apple. I find some restaurants have watered down martinis, but this one definately wasn't - it was just perfect.

Unfortunately our service was just ok. Not terrible, but certainly not close to downtown high-end restaurant quality the night we were there. Having said that... this isn't a downtown high end restaurant - so if you go in with the right expectations, its a great night out. We'll definately be back... & if I see Costco gift certificates again, I'll be picking them up.

You might want to ensure you make a reservation - we went on a Monday night between Christmas and New Years & it was packed.

Great take out!
Submitted Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 10:52pm [Dine in]

We've called ahead & ordered takeout from the Wok Box on 2-3 Friday nights since they opened a few months ago. We enjoy having this place close to home; great food & it is different from the usual pizza take-out. I haven't looked at the nutritional information, so I don't want to claim that it is "healthy", but is sure feels like good, real food rather than the usual take-out. Not a fine dining restaurant, and not necessarily authentic Asian... but a great-I'm too- tired-to-cook & I-want-something for dinner with a-DVD- type restaurant.

We enjoyed the beef & brocolli which we have ordered a couple of times. Wasn't too impressed with the lemon chicken - too deep fried. We haven't yet "eaten in", but I've seen it when I've gone to pick up food - nice ambience. Service so far has been good & the take-out window is a great idea!

For some reason I feel the need to defend...
Submitted Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 8:39pm [Dine in]

Reading the previous reviews, for some reason I feel the need to defend Montana's. I went in January with my boyfriend and our friend (male) for a quick dinner before the movies. It seemed to be primarily male, white, suburban crowd - which I suppose isn't surprising given the type of restaurant and the location.

Although I do like red meat, I must admit that I wasn't particularly inspired by the menu, or the decor/ ambience. We did enjoy sitting at the bar having a drink & watching the hockey game though, and then moved to a table in the restaurant section.

Here's where I disagree with the previous reviews: although the restaurant wasn't necessarily my style, the service we received was great! Young-ish early-20's server, but she did a great job. She was attentive in just the right ways, food arrived quite quickly and she offered refills when appropriate. In fact, our friend spilled his beer on the table, and the manager asked our server to bring him a free refill.

So while I don't know that I'll be going back soon (just not my type of a restaurant ambience), our service much, much better then what I see described in these earlier reviews.
