Extremely Poor Service
Submitted Monday, November 19, 2007 - 10:13pm [Dine in]

This is just a plainly cookie cutter pretentious place. "Relaxed & funky" would be euphenisms for "inattentive and disorganized". After being seated for about almost 20min or so and making eat contact with a waitress, no one came by to take our drink orders. Others arriving after us appeared to be served with drinks and had their orders taken.

After being utterly ignored, we just walked out. As we walked out, a waitress mumbled "uh, sorry" with utter cluelessness in her eyes. There is no excuse for bad service. Obviously not all customers are treated equally there...smells like snobbery. This gives all "funky" places run by youngish twentysomethings a really bad name. The attitude is frankly repulsive.

We have had brunch here at least 1-2 times a month and have put up with very slow and sluggish service before. We were willing to put up with a degree of slowness but being ignored was quite humiliating. The food is not a standout anyways and frequently the toast is not buttered evenly and is cold and anemic and the eggs are a bit tasteless but we enjoyed the omelets. There are other places to go to for a stress-free brunch experience.

Caffe Barney2975 Granville Street, Vancouver
REALLY bad service

This 30 something will never come back. After over 5 visits to this overrated cafe really confirmed that there are no "off days" for service. Usually the wait staff have a bad attitude problem. They are consistently unattentive and disinterested. It's like it is beneath them to serve. Did not get order taken in a timely manner and left on the last visit. Waitress practically tossed the coffee cups/creamer on the table without a care.

Good enough food will not win me over unless management does a massive facelift on the attitude of this very unimpressive bunch of waitstaff.

Satisfying brunch items. Benedict was very good. Coffee was decent and the service was attentive and polite but not over the top. Good balance.

For staff lunches, big or small groups, I found the service was quite prompt and very good. The lunch food was also good. Sandwiches were unique and the salad with chicken in a tex mex style was tasty.

Afterwork it's a good place for drinks and good selection of fusion cuisine. Good service.

The dinner items were notably good. The duck risotto and pasta dishes are well accompanied by a an interesting fried bread. Burgers are decent and very good. It was not overly greasy. Very well balanced. Excellent ambiance. Perfectly lit and of course notably good service. Definitely a better restaurant than the pretentious chain restaurants in Vancouver. Good downtown dining in tucked away off the busy Granville mall.
