Uncle Fatih's Pizza1685 Broadway East, Vancouver
Worth it. So worth it.
Submitted Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 5:49am [Dine in]

Okay. Uncle Fatih's pizza is actually the bomb. So delicious, so fresh, its just... its amazing.

Its a tiny little pizza place just off the drive and half of the times that I've been there the line has been out the door.

The ambiance is... well, lets face it, if you're standing outside on broadway and commercial at night, its likely your ambiance includes the asphalt and a few truly drunk teenagers and a bum or two. Maybe not Dine Out Vancouver, but the pizza is just that amazingly good. You must try it at some point.

Proof that you can put anything on a pizza
Submitted Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 5:39am [Dine in]

I once saw inch wide broccoli florets. :O

Big slices, its a pretty good deal for the 2.75, plus where else on campus can you get food at 10:30pm?

Also, they use ingredients straight from the UBC farm in order to be more sustainable. There's a lot of cheese and lots of vegetables and lots of meat... well lets say lots of everything that they decide to put on the pizza.

Every once in a while there's something for the boring die-hards who like their plain pepperoni and cheese, but most often its a delicious alternative ie roasted tomatoes with feta and olives and green peppers and mushrooms and maybe potato slices or something

George's Taverna3760 Moncton Street, #130, Richmond
Big tasty portions, cute little joint
Submitted Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 5:20am [Dine in]

George believes in really generous servings, and they are damn tasty if a tad salty for the more delicately palatted foodie.

The restaurant has a cosy Mediterranean feel to it and plus, the place is in Steveston which is one of my favourite parts of the GVRD.

Great food, lots of it, and a fabulous setting.

Good food, great service
Submitted Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 4:41am [Dine in]

I came here for a friend's birthday and had a really satisfying experience.

We ended up ordering seven or eight entres between ourselves and shared them around the table. Our server was very pleasant and attentive despite a packed restaurant. When I was having trouble deciding on a dish, she was extremely helpful and patient and our food was out fairly quickly!

Really reasonable prices, tasty green curry and wonderful service!

Simpatico Ristorante2222 West 4th Ave, Vancouver
Good value for your money, awesome potatoes
Submitted Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 4:30am [Dine in]

You definitely don't go home hungry from Simpatico's!

I tasted my friend's calamari and it was crisp and light (the way I like it!). I had the souvlaki meal, which was very filling. The potatoes are so good. Also, the greek salad had a reasonable amount of dressing- no swimming cucumbers at this place.

It was a delicious, hearty meal for a reasonable price- no complaints!

Naam, The2724 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver
Relaxed atmosphere, consistent food
Submitted Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 3:55am [Dine in]

Like many folks have already said, the service is consistently wanting, but the food is consistently pretty decent. It can take a long time to get a table and the menu and your food are sort of plunked down without ceremony. However, if you have good company and are in the mood for a tasty veggie-friendly meal with a little live music, stop by.

The Dragon bowl is great, quite filling, and I love the Naam salad dressing. Also, the chocolate raspberry cake is a vegan miracle. A good selection of beer on tap and the relaxed atmosphere makes the Naam a casual favourite.

Poor Service
Submitted Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 3:23am [Dine in]

Came to the Opus lounge for some live music and drinks from the Elixir next door; the music was good, but unfortunately the drinks and service were not.

Standing at the front waiting for our bill went on for TWENTY MINUTES; the hostess merely informed me that she couldn't help me and that our server was busy, despite the seated area of the restaurant being empty. Our drink bill was split, I paid first but when my friends went to settle, the server tried to charge them for the drinks I'd already paid for.

Not going back, unless I ever get the urge for heinously overpriced drinks and poor service.

East is East3243 W. Broadway, Vancouver
More than 10$
Submitted Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 3:09am [Dine in]

Firstly, I think the description above should be changed: East may be East, but it is NOT an under $10 restaurant! Expect between 20-30$ if you plan to get a meal and a drink, entres go between i think 11 and 17 dollars.

Unfortunately, they messed up our reservation, but our server was timely and polite.
We got awesome samples of their signature spicy chai and the amazing mango lassie.

The food was really good, smaller portions than we expected- what you really come for is reliably tasty cuisine and a truly different atmosphere. Stepping into the restaurant feels like you've just been teleported- its extremely bohemian, exotic, and sexy!

I'll definitely come back soon!
