My favorite sushi take-out place in DT
Submitted Saturday, April 21, 2012 - 12:13am [Dine in]

I have been going to this place for years and absolutely love it. I think the price-quality ratio is superb. I tend to stick with my Sushi combo A and i really think its great value. The rolls are a good size and are consistently good, which is not something you can say about a few popular places in Vancouver like Samurai, etc. Also tried the bento boxes - also very good value.

One thing to keep in mind is if you eat in and order these sushi combos, you get an extra salad that you don't get if you take out. But once you take a look at the sitting area, you will know why i ALWAYS take out. Its extremely cramped and uncomfortable when its busy because not only are the tables close together, there is a group of ppl waiting for their take out orders too. So they just stand there watching you eat and listening to your conversations. I just can't enjoy eating under those circumstances. It becomes hard even to walk in a pick up food. When its nice out, just pick up your food and sit in the park across the street, its just much nicer.

Service is however pretty good. The lady always remembers me and my order. They are all quite friendly and efficient with their service. Definitely nothing to complain about there.

Can't recommend this place enough for take out. Best i've found in the Yaletown area in my 7 years of living here.

Probably the slowest service i've had in years.

First they tell us its a 15 minute wait for a table. Then when the 40 minute mark came around, we asked how much longer. 5 minutes they said... turns out thats another 20 minutes to them. An hour in total, waiting outside. 4 hostesses and they still manage to look completely unorganized and flustered. Appears they did not even know how to manage tables based on their hand written system. Not even a sorry for the wait.

5 people, 4 chairs and one ottoman.... What is this? We then ordered and it took more than 30 minutes for the food to come. Similar wait times when we came for lunch as well where it was much less busy, pretty much empty. If you are thinking about a quick lunch, not the place. Also, items on the dinner menu is slim pickings compared to the lunch. Portions were minisule. Best bang for buck was the Poutine. The worst we tried is the Fish and Chips. AVOID at all costs. Terrible, dry, flavorless, and came in the smallest portion i've seen. Pizza isn't bad.

Server dropped a beer on the ground, then later dropped an empty glass. Maybe she should try not loading up so much on her tray. It was beginning to look scary.

Not worth the trip here. Only if desperate and time is not of concern.
