Food made with love
Submitted Saturday, December 11, 2010 - 12:58pm [Dine in]

Rinconcito puts love in their food, and it shows.

The restaurant had dropped off our radar for some reason, but my partner and I dined there again last night, and it was a great experience. She was happy with her deep-fried fish (a whole tilipia, fried in fresh oil, no fishy taste). I had the tasty shrimp rancheros (sauted shrimp, peppers & onions in a spicey tomato sauce). We started with the tortilla soup - good clean broth, fresh chicken, and avocados. Nice that they make their own tortillas, too. The sides were freshly made rice, red beans, and a little salad. Finished off with a flan, also tasty.

If you're looking for quality, well-made (and freshly-made) food, this place won't disappoint.

Stay away from the seafood chowder
Submitted Sunday, April 4, 2010 - 8:45pm [Dine in]

Stay away from their seafood chowder - ick. Bland bland bland, hardly any seafood, and tasted like they didn't use any kind of fish stock at all. Veggies seemed like the frozen variety. No love of food in that dish. Expected much better from a seafood restaurant, especially when charging $7.

On the other hand, dining partners' enjoyed their halibut & chips. Chips a bit soggy. Coleslaw tasty.

Will probably go back to Dave's when looking for seafood at Steveston.
