Solid go-to but ...

I've been there twice now six months apart. It was definitely better the last time. The naan bread has changed to smaller, flimsier and not as lucious type. The lamb popsicles sauce was much richer the last time. The jackfruit was surprising and great. The fish was outstanding! The two gerwurtz we had were fantastic and knowing their retail price, which is healthy, a decent mark up, not like the rip off at Blue Water with a 3.5 mark up.

They brought us a wrong dish so they brought us the right dish and let us keep the braised beef dish they brought by accident. They were terribly apologetic.

They brought us a lovely muscatel after all of that as a thank you. Awesome.

Overpriced and terrible service

We sat at the bar and my chair was bumped every two seconds with no apology.

Whilst I think their french toast is tasty at 17 dollars, not at all worth that. The maitre d' Robbie is a jerk. The chef, who is in plain view, the female working Sundays, is downright surly. That's fine if you're Gordon Ramsay but if you're gonna be like that work in a kitchen that is not visible to customers.

She wiped plates with the same dodgy rag everytime and it touched the food. Sitting at the bar, I had a bird's eye view of everytime they did that. I do not recommend this place.

Go to the bakery by the Rexhall or the Hot Buns bakery/crepe place in the village instead.

There are enough carribean restaurants out here in the West. Toronto has more but even then, I have to go to a carribean shop or wait for Caribana to get a decent amount of ackee on my plate. Not so here. The ackee and saltfish comes chocka with them both. Yuuuuuummmm. The plantain chips are good too. I'm used them fried thicker and softer in the middle but this 'french fried' like version is still tasty. The drinks are good and I'm always happy to see house wine options in restaurants that are meant to be accessible.

Wait staff is so indifferent so don't be bothered. It's probably not you. BUT tip accordingly. I'm a firm believer that 15 is not a default.

Tho there are more meaty things here than fishy or veggie, at least they aren't muddled with other meats. And there are enuff options to choose from you don't feel cheated. The food is very tasty, not tru spanish tapas, bear that in mind (I lived in Spain for several years). Not that that's bad, but don't go there expecting that. The w8 for a table is ridiculous and the space in the back is a joke, particularly if you have an hour wait. Go early and be prepated to walk next door for a cheaper high ball while you waith.
