Best Chinese food in Kits!
Submitted Saturday, January 30, 2010 - 10:11pm [Dine in]

I am so glad to have found this little place for take out in Kitsilano! This is the best Chinese food I have ever had! My 3rd time with take out, loved the Spicy Shanghi noodles tonight, as well as, every other dish I have tried. The quality is outstanding! Don't even hesitate! YUM!

I have been to this place about 10 times and have never had a bad experience with anything. The food is solid and very tasty. I reccommend the curry dishes, the gnocci, jambalaya, calamari. Brunch is always great and there sticky toffee pudding is to die for! It is busy on the weekends so make reservations. They have different live music every Saturday.

4 of us came here because our friend was playing jazz and we decided to make a night of it. It turned out to be a really great night of food, drinks and music!

We had amazing steaks done to perfection! Desserts amazing!

Drinks - Wine was really good at a very decent price and there $6.00 martinis on Fridays! You just can't beat that! OMG they were the best martini's I have ever had and I dine out all the time everywhere!

Ambience is great and cozy with live music a great touch!

My new favorite place, I will be back for sure and I highly reccomend the steaks, wine and martinis!

Well I was excited to try this place because of all the reviews and let me tell you it was a great disapointment and my wallet was crying afterwards. I just don't get the reviews on here? I am shocked.

First on a positive note, the service and staff are very good and friendly. The only problem we encountered was our server was new and didn't know much about the menu so another waiter had to come over a few times to help us out and he was great.

The ambience reminded me of an murder mystery theme from Clue, it kinda creeped me out.

The food was just ok. I had the Perigord Truffle & Cottage Cheese Gnocchi at $39. It was such a small portion and I was really hungry afterwards. It tasted good but was not something that had me raving about it afterwards and I am not picky at all. My husband had a meat dish I think the lamb at $46 and it was really salty and of course really small portion as well. I tasted it and had to agree it was salty!

Now the wine issue which really upset us! This may have been due to a new server. My husband looked at the wine menu and saw house red $6.00. So we ordered it. Asked which kind out of 3 different kinds and we choose one. We get our bill later and we were charged $15 for each glass of wine! It was ridiculous! I love wine and I couldn't even rave about that either. It was a standard red house wine.

We never ordered dessert as we were disapointed from the meal we had and just didn't want to spend anymore money.

My advice is skip this place, there are way better restaurants out there that are worth spending money at.

Try Bogarts we went there and had the best meal ever with 4 people at half the price!

Very Disapointed :(
Submitted Sunday, September 23, 2007 - 12:16am [Dine in]

My husband and I received a gift certifcate for Brix and went with 3 other people for his birthday last night. What started as a relaxing evening turned into an experince I have never ever encountered in ANY type of restaurant - good or bad.

5 of us ordered main dishes and 4 of the five dishes had to be sent back immediately. 3 of the meat dinners had mashed potato cakes and when you opened them up they were hard and cold in the centre. My sister who ordered pasta got a long pasta tube that was frozen in the center!!! When they brought back a second pasta (after many apologizes from the manager) we got another frozen pasta dish!!! My sister then decided on a salad instead and it was so salty she couldn't finish it.

Our waitress looked so embarrassed and was apoligizing throughout the evening to us. I think she was in shock like us.

The managment gave us all free desserts which were all very good but we were already so disapointed with the food it was hard to enjoy them.

This place is very nice inside/outside, the staff was great BUT THE FOOD was way below average, not fresh, is way too over priced for what you get and to have that kind of experience happen twice in an evening is just insane. The chef should be fired!

Come here for drinks, appetizers or dessert - Save your money for dinner at any other restaurant but this one! Vancouver has many other great restaurants then this and for less $$$

Done with Capones...
Submitted Saturday, January 20, 2007 - 11:07am [Dine in]

I have been going to Capones occasionally for a couple years now. There pizza and martinis are really good with great live jazz music to listen to. A little pricey but I used to look forward to going to this place.

Last night (Jan 19th 2007) I HAD RESERVATIONS at Capones for 9:45pm. We got there at 9:40pm and waited until 10:15pm and still they had no table for us. Yet they said our table would be ready in five minutes about 4 times!

All these other people were being seated from the door and the bar. They asked if we would like to order a drink while we waited by the front door. We said yes and then 15 minutes past and we still didn't get the drinks!

When they still couldn't give us an answer to when we would be seated we decided to leave because it had been a half an hour past our reservation and we were standing by the door which was opening and closing constantly. They didn't even offer a free drink or anything or bring the drinks we ordered! Come on!

Very disapointing! I will not be going back here!
