Commune Cafe, The1002 Seymour Street, Vancouver
Dinner was great
Submitted Tuesday, February 1, 2011 - 11:56pm [Dine in]

Went to Commune Cafe for dinner after much anticipated wait.
The lady and I had been to Commune for brunch on the weekend before and a sandwich for lunch but have never seen the dinner vibe.
It was a much different experience at night. During the day, it is counter service where you can get a quick lunch and be on your way. At dinner, we were greeted at the door by the manager and received table service. I like this approach. I like to be served at dinner, you get to know the menu and staff a little better while you can sit back and enjoy the evening. We sat at the communal table and ended up sharing a bottle of wine with an older couple living in LA they were in town filming Mission Impossible.
We were there are on a Saturday where they offerred a four course dinner for $24. Fantastic. We started with assorted tapas, a roast winter soup, seared salmon and risotto for dinner and this double fudge brownie for dessert which is to die for.
Overall, we will be back for dinner again. It's a nice affordable spot.
Only criticism, I would like to see some unique cocktails representing this funky spot.

Steamworks Transcontinental?
Submitted Sunday, November 2, 2008 - 1:08pm [Dine in]

I regularly patron Steamworks because I love the fresh beer but am stuck between a rock and a hard place because the food is so poor. I usually go eat somewhere else before I visit Steamworks to drink some beer.
Some friends and I were looking for a table for 12 and the greatest part about Steamworks is they are very accomodating of large groups. Unfortunetly, they were jammed pack and could not get us a table until one of the managers offered us a seat at their sister restaurant across the parking lot. Apparently there is another Steamworks in the Waterfront Station!! This place was great! Very busy too. Beautiful room, great ambience, the food was very good and the best part is they pour all the same Steamworks beer.
I will be back for another visit.
