Quality Of Food Is So Bad
Submitted Friday, January 1, 2010 - 5:42pm [Dine in]

(Corrected report). Trolls has a great family atmosphere, but not much else to commend it. The quality of the fish and chips is very poor for what is supposed to be a fish and chip restaurant. Fish is small with hard and dark batter, Chips are soggy and mainly little bits. Why can't they buy better quality potatoes?

Other food on the menu is awful. Chicken stir fry - lots of broccoli but no sign of any chicken and it was badly cooked anyway.

Service is a "don't care" attitude.

This place should have so much going for it, but seems to have sat back on its past reputation. It now is fast gaining a bad reputation. Food is bad, service is bad, decor is old fashioned and worn out. If you want good fish and chips in Horseshoe Bay, Ya Yas delivers much better quality and value.

Overpriced and Quality Has Slipped
Submitted Friday, January 1, 2010 - 5:26pm [Dine in]

Having been regular attenders at this restaurant in Horseshoe Bay, we now go only rarely. Prices are now beyond the level of quality or value. Have recently eaten at fine dining restaurants in Whistler and Vancouver where the main courses cost less than here. Their flight of wines is good and Sunday brunch is OK, but quality is very variable (can't cook eggs!)

There are so few waterfront restaurants in Vancouver that it is such a shame that the quality of the food does not match the prices they are charging. Lower prices and up the quality and we will come back.

Incredible - A Top Flight French Bistro
Submitted Friday, January 1, 2010 - 5:18pm [Dine in]

This is French food done in a country style. Outstanding choice from blackboard menus. I have eaten here many times and never yet been disappointed. The Chef has twice (in France) been awarded a Michelin Star.

Welcome is very warm, friendly and personal. We went again on New Year's Eve. It was packed but still the food was delivered promptly and was as fantastic as always. (One group - not ours, even pre-ordered and received suckling pig!). Always full and warm and cosy.

Nothing is too much trouble. Hostess (wife of chef and co-owner) Brigitte is a delight.
