Non-industrialized hot pot

Tired of going to a hot pot place in richmond and having to deal with crap service and crap quality food? Ok, this might not completely dismiss that cause I come here regularly and the service sometimes varies, but overall this is way better than the bigger hot pot places where the service absolutely sucks.

They try to keep the food as fresh as possible so they often run out of some less ordered items. The meats are thinly sliced so you don't really get the good texture out of them but everything is fresh so you won't get one plate of good meat, another plate that looks like it's been around since you were born.

Also, they have specialty broths, which in some cases are not just broths! One of my favorites is the Lamb special pot which is actually a stew of lamb tailbone with meat. You get to eat the meat/stew first and then you can use the stew as broth for your hot pot. They use to make only 3 servings of this per day to keep things fresh and the waitress told me to call in first and reserve one before coming in. Not sure if they still do that though. There's also a spicy crab pot where again you get spicy crab to eat first, then you can use broth for hot pot. There's a few more, go check it out yourself :P

This little restaurant does offer both all-you-can-eat and regular menu, so take your pick.

Not just simple bubble tea...

"Hi, I'm Sabin, and I'm addicted to Pearl Castle...."

Yeah, sometimes I think there should be a group for us who religiously go to Pearl Castle. However, I do believe there are reasons why we do...

Bubble tea wise, it's one of the best ones around. The quality of their drinks very, very, very rarely fall below certain standards. Unless I try something radically new and by the off-chance I get something I don't like, I was never near dissatisfied.

Food is another plus here, I guess that's why the 'cafe' word. Ever since it reopenned a few years ago, the food menu has completely changed for the better. You can expect to order a meal and get side dishes and even a small desert to go with it. And these meals are pretty good...to the point that I had 4 meals there in 3 days. Then again, it might just be me...

Service wise, I have to admit it's actually marginal. If you're lucky, they'll actually smile and look at you when taking your order. That's the level of service I feel basic food service should at least have...The only reason I give them a 4 out of 5 is that virtually all employees are girls and most of them are pretty cute...Biased? Yes, but I'm sure a lot of guys would agree that cute girls as waitresses makes a world of difference.

Finally, the surroundings are now much brighter and the chairs much more comfortable than before. The atmosphere is great just as the surroundings.

As a final note, beware of Friday and Saturday nights, this place is packed! You could however order take-out, they even take orders over the phone so you can just come pick it up. Yes, I'm that big of a fan of this place...

We first ended up in this restaurant by fluke but are we glad we came.

First thing you'll notice is the interior decoration designed not to be your average Joe's. The chairs are exceptionally comfortable, especially after a very nice meal. The surrounding is nice and dim with great atmosphere written all over the place.

Second thing would be the service. Everyone would great you warmly and service throughout was very nice. We even had the experience of having my girlfriend's birthday there and had a total party of 16 people and they still were able to handle it perfectly assisting everyone personally.

Then there's the food. Reasonably priced and a very decent selection. This place being a steakhouse, I had steaks both times and each time I left the dishwasher with nothing to do. The entrees looke small in size initially but you'll quickly realize it's perfectly proportioned.

If there's anything else to add, it's definitely to save room for the cheesecake! This I understand would be more of a personal preference but I would say this is the best cheesecake I've had in a long time, unlike those overly fluffy cheesecake from Cheesecake etc and the likes.
