Make it a Tradition
Submitted Friday, November 3, 2006 - 7:55pm [Dine in]

Mings is a familly tradition for us. Many occations have been celebrated in their authentic, dare I say "old school" style restaurant. The food is wonderful, and the service is top notch. I love this place!

Absolute Perfection
Submitted Saturday, September 2, 2006 - 2:23pm [Dine in]

I have had the pleasure of dining at Matisse on three occasions, and each time has been a culinary experience to rave about. From the moment you walk in the door and into the softly lit intimate dining room, you know you are in a true French Restaurant. If you want the full experience, go for the Prix Fixe 4 course meal ($49), or the Chef's 7 course tasting menu ($85). You can have the latter paired with wines for an extra $40, which is what we had, and it is incredible. John, the owner, gives personal attention to each table and his passion for food and wine is delightfully infectious. Matisse is truly a hidden gem in Victoria: an absolute must try.

Shiki Sushi1113 Blanshard Street, Victoria

I have been to Shiki Sushi over a dozen times, and have never had a bad experience. Their spinach salad with sesame dressing is the best I have had anywhere. Other favourites are the Yam roll, Veggie roll, and a Shiki Original (I think), the Mexican Roll (tempura prawn, spicy mayo, tomato & avocado). The ambiance could be improved on, but it is on par with most other Japanese restaurants in Victoria. I find the prices to be within range of most other places also. I've tried many other sushi places in town, but keep coming back to Shiki. Definitely try it.
