Good Value!! Great Food!!!
Submitted Monday, June 15, 2009 - 11:52pm [Dine in]

First time going to any of the Old Spaghetti Factory restaurants, and man was I ever impressed!!! The wait was about 10 min. even though the hostess said it would be only 3 min. but I guess it was worth in the end.!!

FOOD: The complementry bread was nice with herb/chive(?) butter. I ordered the old spaghetti factory fav., spaghetti&meatballs with x-tra meatballs and my friend orderd the chicken breast dinner. With our meals came a option of soup or salad. We both went for the soup and I ordered the Cookie monster smoothie while he had the ice tea. Needless to say I was impressed with my dish as he was with his. Although they can use alittle less sauce, on mine I thought my dish was a bit 'drowing' in the sauce!!!
The meatballs were a bit plain but really tasted great!!

SERVICE: We went there on Sunday so it was a bit busy. However our waiter had smile on all the time and was courteous. The service was bit slow, but prompt when it ahd to be. P.S the bathrooms were clean and in good shape when I was there!

VALUE: GREAT!!! What more can I say for the amount of food we got, it was amazing!!

AMBIANCE: A littel lacking in the decor side, but not ot bad either!!! The place was buzz with families and noisy kids of course. But overall great place to sit and eat!!!

Overall, at the end of the meal our waiter came and gave us the option of having palin vanilla ice cream or the tripoli flavour ice cream(it has vanilla, chocolate and pistachio), that's right it is a complete meal. From start to finish I was impressed with my entire dinning experince..
Definately, worth checking out, I know I'll be a returning customer!!!

The Old BK!!! Relives as a Indian Buffet!!!
Submitted Sunday, June 7, 2009 - 4:12pm [Dine in]

It's true this was the old BK on the corner of 96th ave and 120th st. in Surrey!!
Kind of hard to get the image out of my mind!!!

FOOD: After reading some other reviews I must disagree with somethings. First of the food has nver made me sick and is quite alright that reagards!!! The butter chicken is one of the best I've eaten anywhere!!!! The buffet for some reason NEVER seeems to have enough naan. On the whole however, I tried every single curry dish and liked all of them!!! DELICIOUS!!!

SERVICE: Could use improvments!!!! The seats of some of the tables are torn and the waiteresses never seem to greet u or say "hi" or "hello"!!! That being said they do fill ur water and ask for ur drink selection!!!!

VALUE: Cheap and great price for the buffet on the whole, no real cmplains here!!!!!

AMBIANCE: It was the old BK for god 's sake, and that image is hard to get out of my mind!!!!

Overall, even as we were leaving at 9:30pm, people were still coming in!!! So it goes to show that Mehfil is holding it's own against its neighbouring restaurants. Cheap and affordable buffet that leaves u satisfied and full!!!
Now that's worth a try!!!!

Bean Around The World3598 Main, Vancouver
Beans and then some??????????
Submitted Tuesday, May 5, 2009 - 10:14pm [Dine in]

Never bean here, so my sister asked if I was intersted in giving it a shot!!!!

FOOD: We both ordered the grilled chicken panini with cauliflower-cheese soup, she had water and I had the carmel frappe. The panini was okay, nothing to rave about(carmelized onions, red/green leaf lettuce and roasted red peppers), the cauliflower soup was a little disappointing. There was no chunks of cauliflower, instead it must have been blended in the soup itself, which was a little watery. The carmel frappe was good, not to sweet. May be next time I might try the something else(???).

SERVICE: Was good, they came to our table and was promt, friendly, no real complains here.

VALUE: We paid about $25 for grilled chicken panini combo and a frappe, could use price adjustment, other than that it's a decent value, for the cambie street area.

AMBIANCE: Not to bad, cultural music in the background, calm, and relaxing atomsphere. Don't expect any 'hellos' from the other patrons, simply because they're all snobby wi-fi loving, java junkies who won't even glance at you let alone smile.

Overall, may try itg out if I'm in the area next time around and hungry I guess.

Decent Pho!!!!
Submitted Thursday, April 30, 2009 - 2:32am [Dine in]

I've been here a few times now and I can't complain too much about it. Decent pho, good value, but shoddy service at times.

FOOD: I've come to enjoy the pho here and like what I get(mind you I order the same dish), that can come with variations. Simply put they have made a couple mistakes a few times. The pho I order doesn't come with beef tripe, but on 2 separate occasions it has. However, lucky for them I like beef tripe so it doesn't bother me(depending on your server). The pho is good and always piiping hot when I get mine. I personally can't complain too much about it, the quality is consistent.

SERVICE: This is were improvement is needed. Depending on your server, you can look forward too a wrong order or being ignored. The waiteress(depending on who serves you), may be a pain in rear to deal with.

VALUE: Personally for me I can fill up ess than $10!!!!!!!!!! That being said, for amonut of food you get served, not bad at all!!!!!

AMBIANCE: Not much of an ambiance going on here in regards to its vietnamese background.

Overall, inexpensive and worth a try!!!!!!

Good Eats!!! Cheap Price!!!!!
Submitted Wednesday, April 29, 2009 - 3:17pm [Dine in]

Come for the cheap price, stay for HUGE eats!!!!! Well what else can I say ab out this place!!!

FOOD: I recommend the the WORLD FAMOUS MUSHROOM BURGER!!!! This is served open faced with, what is got be at least 1 lb. of mushrooms or more!!! Belive me no matter what u order u will be taking home left overs. They serve all sorts of homestyle goodness( shnitzels, chicken terayki, spaghetti and meatballs, meat loaf), just to name a few. The cheese cakes are also good. Also, the fountain drinks can be HUGE as well.,

SERVICE: You walk in, order what you like, pay up front they give you a number, and u sit where want and wait untill they call you up!!! It's that simple!!!

VALUE: For the amount you pay, it's worth buying. Belive me every time I go there, I end up with enough for dinner.

AMBIANCE: This not the place for ambence, although in the summer one can sit outside and enjoy the warm weather.

Overall, if you want great, cheap eats at affordable prices than this is place!!!
Forget the ambiance!!!!!

I've beeen coming here over a year and half know, kind of a regular I guess.

FOOD: Can use a price adjustment, but nothing to complain about. Tried pretty much every appy(except for the ones with pork), and i'm equally impressed. The 2-for-$11 appys is great idea(any appy under $9 and also they have them at certain time of day) I believe its from 3-6 pm Mon-Thurs(best call in and check first). The one that is misleading in regards to this is that the Guiness is on the the appy menu($6.50/pint) and is not included on the 2-for-$11 appy menu (that would be nice if they can do that). During the Canucks regular season games or playoffs they offer the Canuck burger and also offer a bucket of Molson or a couple of other brews by the bucket(4 bottles). The shrimp purses and veggie spring rolls can be oily and greasy, although the Yorkshire pudding with beef in the middle is tasty, the pizzas are okay, and the tradtional Irish fare is very good indeed(Irish stew, steak/kidney pie).

SERVICE: The service can use improvement in a few areas. The bar tenders are friendly. The same can't be said of some waiteresses. I can't help but agree with SHINDIGS comment of the blond waiteress, she provided poor service. There are a couple of other waitresses but they aren't that bad, but they weren't always like that . At one point their were many friendly, charming and inviting waitresses there. WHERE DID THEY ALL GO???????????????? The bathrooms were clean when I was there.

VALUE: Like I said earlier can use a price adjustment, but reasonably okay. (But that depends on the service u receive)

AMBIANCE: Game nights(Canucks playing) can be loud full of cheering fans, likewise when a UFC fight is on. On other nights it's a nice retreat for Irish pub fare. Best to go during the week when its not that busy. On certain weekends they have a live band(call before u go), personally I'm still wating for the Celtic Women to show up, for that matter The Great Big Sea and/or Ashlye McIssac(what about River Dance).

Overall a good place to eat drink and be merry!!!!

So-So Top Gun!!!
Submitted Monday, April 27, 2009 - 4:36pm [Dine in]

As u can tell from my ratings this restaurant is okay in aspects to its food, service, value and ambiance!!!
I' ve been here a couple of times, I don't have any real (pardon the pun) beef with the restaurant, but like any other restaurant there is always room for improvement.

FOOD: What u pay for is what u get!!!!!!! The lunch menu of ALL U CAN EAT, has a amazing selection of food and for a mere $12, its not that bad but nothing really to rave about either. The Oyster Mokotaki is oily and greasy, the Mackeral Sashimi had fishy smell to it (although) it shouldn't. The Chicken Karagi and Shrimp Ball Bombs were tasty and little spicy(good). The rest of the food was average in taste and appeal.

SERVICE: Was ok, although I think the manager has a problem with a large group of people, because we constanly being eyeballed by him(creepy).
The waiter/waiteress were friendly and always smiling when ever they were at the table, and last but not least they never made a single error on our order.

VALUE: Like I mentioned earlier $12 not bad at all, reasonable price.

AMBIANCE: Some what lacking, the interior has some neat decor, great view of the Fraser River if you are by the window. The bathrooms when I was there were clean, the restaurant not quite so.

Overall, for lunch this is a reasonable eatery, havn't been there for dinner, if you like an inexpensive meal then this is the palce to go.
