Pho Number One1120 Denman Street, Vancouver
pho number one is pricy

I lived in Vietnam for a year and travelled all over the country having pho at least once a day. So I like to think I know what I'm talking about when it comes to pho. I have also been to at least 15 different pho places in Vancouver, and have a good basis for comparison.
The broth is the key aspect of pho, and the broth here is admittedly very tasty.
However, I found, as with the comment below, that the portion sizes are small - what they serve is considereed "small" pho in every other restaurant, and there definitely needs to be an option for a large, if that's the way people want to go (I'm a tall slim 140lb vegetarian, and God knows I need the large... partially cause rice noodles digest so quickly and I don't have the meat to fill me up).
Also I found the prices very high, especially considering the portion size - for my veggie pho I paid $7 for a small, whereas everywhere else its $4-6 for a large. So the 75% price increase had me a bit soured too.
Its a good place if you're stuck in the West end, but I'd rather hop in my car and head to one of the amazing places on Kingsway or Hastings.
