Go for the subs
Submitted Saturday, August 1, 2009 - 7:30pm [Dine in]

I love coming here for the vietnamese subs. The bread is so fresh and the ingredients are spot-on. Best of all, it's super cheap. I've also had the curries and it's rich and tasty. It comes with baguette which is perfect for dipping.

The only problem is that it can get really busy around lunchtime, but the turnover is pretty good and the staff is efficient. Definitely worth the wait.

Um, hi can I get some service?

I have been here once before and wasn't too impressed, but decided to give it one more shot. What a mistake! After lining up for 15 minutes to get seated, we waited another 15 minutes before having a server take our drink order, and then waited...and waited.

Like other people have commented, the lone server is just not enough and she seems to pick and choose what tables to serve. After trying to get her attention to take our order, she went over to a table that had been seated *after* us and took their order. We walked out and went across the street to Caffe Barney where the service was outstanding and attentive.

The one time I was there the food was good, the decor is interesting, but I have no idea what people are lining up for?!

What's with all the hype?

We went to Grub based on reading so many glowing restaurant reviews and seeing it jam packed on many nights. Overall it was a very poor experience.

When we first arrived, we were told the wait would be 45 minutes and then after a few minutes, we were told it would just be a few minutes. That didn't bother us too much, just found it a bit weird that the servers didn't have a good grasp as to what was going on.

After being seated with the menus, we waited a long time for the server to come back and we were dying for a drink. When she finally arrived, I ordered the seared sablefish with fennel, baby shrimp, lemon risotto with an orange & apricot compote. My partner ordered the smoked provolone stuffed chicken breast.

When our meals came, we were both very disappointed. The sablefish was overcooked (definitely did not seemed seared) and the compote was too sweet and overpowering. Sadly, the risotto was undercooked and I could only find two baby shrimp. My partner's stuffed chicken was ruined by too much cheese.

Our server was also pretty non-existent, although I know it was a busy night for them. My partner had ordered a mojito which tasted fine but the second one tasted horrible.

Drinks + meal was almost $75. All in all, a VERY disappointing dining experience...especially for the price.
