Was A Good Idea...
Submitted Monday, April 6, 2009 - 8:55pm [Dine in]

The idea of the restaurant is great - nice little fish & chip stand in the park. Unfortunately, our experience was less than great.

We ordered 1 cod fish & chips, a salmon w/o the chips, and a pop. After a tolerable wait, we received our order, with coffee in place of the pop. No sense in complaining, they were so busy anyway.

Fish was ok at best. A bit batter heavy, and the fish itself was nothing special at all. They definitely need to use a higher quality fish. Fries were soggy and tasted old & bland. The little "boat" they served it in is uncomfortable to handle if you don't get a proper table with the holes.

Definitely not going back, which is unfortunate because, like I mentioned, the idea was great and the park atmosphere is pleasing on a nice day. Too bad the food is so poor.

Our first impression was great - clean & classy. Background music is appropriate and the whole decor just seems to "fit".

We ordered wonton soup and pork spring rolls as appetizers, and two beef entrees.
Appetizers arrived promptly, and tasted delicious. The wonton soup was HUGE! The main meals arrived very shortly after the appetizers, which was surprising considering the very large menu. Both of us enjoyed our meals, and had lots packed to go.

Serving staff was excellent - dressed well, good English skills, friendly, polite & sociable. Their timing on everything was perfect - from taking the orders to bringing the bill. They would walk by our table casually and wait until we were finished our conversation to ask if we wanted the meals packed to go.

Very good value for the money. We will be going back.

Won't be going back

My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time, after reading reviews that we wouldn't like it if we wanted authentic Chinese. Well, I prefer Westernized, so off we went.

First impressions did not speak well - the walls seem very bare, and a dirty-looking curtain covers the entrance to the kitchen. Ceiling looks saggy in some areas, and spotted with water damage.

Service was decent, our server did offer some dishes that he liked at our request. He didn't check on us too much or too little. The appetizers were alright (wonton soup and egg rolls), though nothing special. I ordered a combination dinner, my husband had duck for the main course.

Perhaps this is not the "style" of westernized that we're used to, because neither of us liked our meals. The rice seemed to be missing salt, the dry ribs were TOO salty, and the chow mein was simply gross. I tried adding soy sauce, but it didn't really help. We had the food packed to go to be polite, but it will likely be hitting the trash. We will not be going back.
