WOW Amazing Place - great food!
Submitted Wednesday, August 6, 2008 - 9:20am [Dine in]

Went to the Blue Canoe this past weekend and was totally blown away. The place was packed and just humming. I have walked by a few times and seen the place full and tried to get in but could not.

Went with my girlfriend and her friends from out of town this past Monday, we all had an amazing time. Food is just great, service was friendly, effeciant and informative and I just love the atmosphere, great loacation right on the water.

We all shared the Nacho's and the calamari, we all thought the calamari was just amazing, not the same old flour tossed/ fried frozen rings with red onions!! They had this corn type salsa on top- and it was just perfect.

Barbeque salmon was just out of this world, best my wife has had at any restaraunt at any time she said, really nice presentation as well. Perfectly cooked vegetables could not have been done any better.

I had the 10 ounce ( ? ) steak that was topped with a lobster butter cream. If I could just get a bowl of that lobster cream sauce I would pay a kings ransom.

My wifes friends had halibut and chips ( out of towners wanting fish and chips when in Steveston - suprise. ). They both loved it!

They have a really nice selection of beer and a very interesting cocktail list. Go for the backporch lemonade! WOW We didn't end up having any wine but a nice list for sure I would say about 80 wines.

Only thing I would say is the washrooms are a little small, I though I was in the wrong room for a second but no big deal. We also had to wait for the bill for a bit to long in my mind but I am fussy that way.

Overall I would say this place has just nailed it on all cylinders. We will be back no doubt.

Nice view - Just OK everything else.

Just moved back to the lower mainland and remember this restaraunt very well from 10 years ago....so headed down to Steveston on a sunny day to soak up some sun.

The food and menu were alright but a bit dated. It was a busy Friday night so service was a little lacking, I think they need more staff, tough I guess in this employment market.
We shared the calamri -- alright nothing special. My wife had the Halibut and chips, a little burnt and the fries are not good. I had the Fisherman Pot for 35 bucks, not great.

Drinks ( beer pints really small 14 ounce??) need help.

Overall a little pricey, not good service and just OK. Nice spot though.
