Maybe an Off Night?
Submitted Friday, December 2, 2011 - 10:30am [Dine in]

Went here last night before the hockey game.
I'd heard good things, like that the only other comparable pizza in Vancouver was Nicli Antica.
Definitely a let down. If felt like all the ingredients were there for a great pizza, but that maybe the pizzaiolo was sick and they had some new guy fill in.
Whenever I go to a new pizzaria I always order the margherita because I want to see how they do with the basics.
The margerhita came and there was way too much sauce. This throws all the flavours out of balance and when your pizza only has cheese, crust, tomato sauce and basil, balance is pretty important
And also because there was too much sauce, the crust was kind of doughy. Not an awful pizza, but certainly nothing I would go back for.
And the vibe is pretty whatever. Kind of felt like I was in a mall

So who knows, maybe it was an off night.
I will give it another chance, but not for a while

Quality Pizza
Submitted Thursday, February 21, 2008 - 1:31pm [Dine in]

Papas pizza is a great little slice place at Main & 14th. The pizza is simple and delicious and because it's always busy, it's usually very fresh. They have 5 choices: pepperoni, ham and pineapple, spinach and feta, vegetarian and the special. The special changes with each pizza, so you never know what they might have. The barbecue chicken pizza is a good one, as well as the lasagna pizza. The owners are friendly and with at least one of them always their working, the quality never slips. And just so you know, they do pick up but not delivery.

Marlon Blando

This is a nice looking restaurant with great ambiance and I'm guessing that's why it's usually pretty busy. The service here is notoriously bad, and the pizza... well if you're paying $24 for a pizza it better be great and unfortunately that isn't the case at Marcellos. As one my good friends would say "Marlon Blando".

High Hopes
Submitted Friday, May 12, 2006 - 2:02pm [Dine in]

I like the vibe of this restaurant. I like the look. But man do they ever have to work on the food. And I really hope they do, cause it's a nice place. But I've been here 3 times and twice the food was only so so and once it was just plain awful.
My suggestion: go for the beer and the decor and grab pizza slices later.

Awesome Pie

This is the place for pizza in Vancouver. Thin crust, nice simple tomato sauce (I think it's just crushed tomatoes with olive oil) and the perfect amount of cheese. I know it doesn't sound special, but the way the flavours work together really is special. I would recommend the Margherita. The last time I was there I ordered the prawns in garlic sauce as an appetizer. That is one decision I've never regretted. The staff is friendly, but not in your face. Check it out!

Best Burger For The Money

I've been going to the Red onion for years and it's my favourite burger joint in town. It has cheap unpretentious food that is made fresh and tastes great. The serving staff is also very friendly and helpful, and you get a red onion to take home with you!
