Take Out Once, Probably Not Again
Submitted Wednesday, February 29, 2012 - 2:41pm [Take-out]

At a place where you do a lot of office lunches, you are always on the lookout for a place with some variety of cuisines so everyone can get what they want.
So this place seemed awesome when I discovered they had both sushi and chinese.
However, my sushi wasn't the freshest. While it was passable (perhaps not as bad as I thought it was going to be), there is really no reason to go here when there are many far fresher and more valuable establishments in the area.
One of my co-workers said the chinese (egg rolls, wonton soup) were rather bland, and they didn't finish it.
While I can't say it was a horrible experience, I couldn't see myself going out of the way to return. However I will say that the workers operating the joint were very friendly and welcoming.

Delicious Experience
Submitted Saturday, May 21, 2011 - 2:50pm [Dine in]

Attended in a group of four at a friend's recommendation.
We had lamb curry with naan and steamed rice,
broccoli and green beans,
crispy noodles with chicken,
shrimp and fish masala,
their spicy crispy tofu (not sure what the name was),
hot & sour soup.
spicy dumplings

all of us were very impressed at the quantity and quality of the food.
the flavors are new and interesting - familiar both in the chinese and indian sense but creating something completely unique to this place. the lamb was stewed and an incredible softness. the curry sauce was appropriately spicy and it had many vegetables I wouldn't normally get with an indian-style curry, but it still tasted very indian in nature. This dish really stood out to me as impressive.
In fact everything was pretty equally appreciated on the table!
But also notable were the fish masala and the dumplings to start. They dissappeared between the group really fast.
Note that we did get quite a bit of food with this order and both sides went home with a lot of leftovers.

Several staff made sure our drinks were full and that we were all enjoying the food. They were very polite and the service was fast.

I would go again, for sure, and I am interested to try their take-out.

The decor is nothing really fancy, but that almost adds to the allure. It doesn't seem like it's trying to be fancy, just wholesome and reasonably priced.

Great Place, Burnaby's Sushi Mansion!

I have eaten here a few times since their 'grand opening' recently, and I have never been let down. The staff is all courteous, and you are always welcomed by the the server's AND chef's as you enter. (Notably, one time as I was leaving I was thanked for my patronage several times, someone even shouting thanks a last time from the porch as we left!)
It's a far cry from some of the sushi places in Burnaby where it feels like they are serving you somewhat grudgingly.

The servings are huge for the modest pricing. This place honestly gives you more sashimi for your buck then anywhere else I can think of. The rolls are delicious, and always prepared with care. They are no stranger to presentation, using sauces and balanced colors to bring the art back to sushi. I'm always surprised when the bill is less then expected.

All and all, I think the only downside I could think of is that their menu is somewhat short compared to other establishments. However, they have all the basics covered and they always do a great job. I think of this place often when the craving for sushi comes, and I always tip well as they really do deserve it here.

Not Supremely Impressive.

This establishment had been recommended to me by a co worker, and my partner and I were excited to be trying it.
As an appetizer we had the Fried Marinated Vegetables. My first problem was that for $13.95, I didn't feel we got a very impressive spread of vegetables. We also did not find them to be overly flavorful. Somewhat disappointing, though the bread was quite delicious.
My main course was the four cheese gnocchi. While this dish looked quite impressive, the gnocchi had no texture whatsoever. The sauce was not overly flavorful either. My date had the lasagna and we felt there was nothing impressive about this dish either. The sauce had no real 'zing' to it. All and all it was kind of a bland experience. Rather expensive considering the same money somewhere else could have bought quite a meal!

The service was quite good, however, the place was quite busy and very noisy.
