awesome food great ambiance
Submitted Monday, November 30, 2009 - 12:31am [Dine in]

the first 2 reviews are invalid because this restaurant is now under new management and it has improved

i ordered the meal combo which is 4 items + rice + soup + free crab
*excuse my names as i ordered in chinese*
honey garlic spare ribs
green onion ginger crab
chicken(the cold one)
fish and tofu pot(i dont know the fish name in english)
gai lan with beef

we went in and we were immediatly greeted by big friendly smiles who told us to sit anywhere. the menu was extremely extensive with various menus including noodle, congee, soup, rice dishes, and others, the food we ordered was all good except for the chicken which looked kind of raw

we called the waiter who reassured us that it was cooked but they would make a hot version of it if we requested. they took it and they remade it wonderfully and apologized. this to me is great service.

all the other food was delicious, and even though this is a cha chaan tang, the gai lan with beef had standards akin to sun sui wah

the ambiance in this place is pretty good for a cha chaan tang. the washroom like most cha chaan tang was cold but this one was nice and clean and had NO ODOUR. this to me was a big plus. i was told that they were renovating and i was happy to hear that.

at the end of our meal we wered asked for some input and we gave it and they listened and thanked us.

the bill was around 60 + tip so it was a cheap place and i will be returning

Great Food High Prices
Submitted Tuesday, November 24, 2009 - 9:01pm [Dine in]

food is absoulutely delicious, i always order the curry beef brisket and ive enjoyed it for many years, so this is a place you will get addicted to. to me, when i first had it, it might be a lil spicy but after time, u will love it unconditionally

service: not much service, not much needed as it is just a food court stall

value: EXPENSIVE for $15 you get a bucket (i stress bucket, its more like a quarter bucket) thats half filled with daikon/radish and then the rest with brisket, so its overpriced for a fast food stall

abiance: its a mall so not much to say

good for me

id like to start and say that if you are a western person and are writing a review about things like stir-fry, this is not what a chinese person would order. the chop sueys and etc are western foods so if you order western food at a chinese restaurant you cant judge it

for me, i usually order rice noodle, egg noodle, thick noodle or something along the lines of that iwth beef brisket in clear soup. i always enjoy this no matter what. one time, i commented to my friend about how this used to be better a few years ago and a server overheard us and then gave us a platter of beef brisket just like how we described it(nice bouncy feeling and full of flavor) so that is great for service.

being seated is quite fast no problems here

value is standard for these kind of "cha chaan tang" nothing special

ambiance: above average for "cha chaan tang" and again, nothing special

great slush
Submitted Friday, October 16, 2009 - 12:13am [Dine in]

i have no clue what the person below is talking about, i went with 9 friends today to bbw and we all ordered slushes and they were great. I had a milky pineapple slush with mango stars which was the best thing ive ever had, i didnt get sick of it and it was very pretty to look at.
i itried my friends green apple with rainbow jelly which looks full of life and also my friends red bean slush with pearl, both of which very good slushes. Bubble tea here is on the highest end with most milk and teas at 3.45 with slushes at 3.95 and around 60 cents to add pearls, straberry jelly, grass jelly, mango jelly, coconut jelly, rainbow jelly or anything else.

service was okay. not much done but not much really needed

~i had food here on another occasion. i had deep fried pork w/ noodles. noodles were okay, not that gud of a food but the pork chop was delicious but you come here for the bubble tea and not the food

Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant3888 Main Street, Vancouver
great place to go
Submitted Sunday, October 11, 2009 - 10:49pm [Dine in]

ive been going to this place for about 5 or 6 years. I will admit, the food has degraded from 5 years ago but its still the best I've ever had (i give it a 5 because it is still delicious, if it was 5 years ago, i wouldve given it a 6/5)

the food is always fresh and everything is orderly

service. this is wonderful, personally, i am chinese and one glance at one of the waiters and they will walk your way(try it). i also notice that they are very hospitable to the non chinese people giving them extra attention. They change your plates often, and if you have any problems, just find someone with a tie(not a bowtie) and they will gladly replace the order or remake it for you

value: ive read that many of you say that this place is expensive but it is on par with most of the higher end if not high end of cantonese cuisine. so you cannot really compare this place with the prices of other restaurants that arent on par

ambiance: this is a wonderful place, at the middle ceiling of the restaurant is an elaborate peice of various cloth things (this is quite hard to explain) and it is very tidy. Sun Sui wah is a very popular place for weddings, a babies first month or something of the sort

Kawawa Ramen4700 Kingsway, #E15, Burnaby
Do Not Order The Currey Ramen
Submitted Wednesday, August 19, 2009 - 9:47pm [Dine in]

i was walking through metrotown one day and i saw a ramen place so i decided to give it a try. since i am a big fan of curry, i ordered the curry ramen. my friend ordered the kawawa i believe and my other friend ordered the one with the spare rib. the curry broth has absoulutely no flavouring besides spicy. just spicy, not even a bit salty. the noodles were extremely spicy and i gave up eating it after half. the kawawa soup base was average and not extremely great as it had hints of alchohol in it. the one with the spare rib was delectable! but since i am reviewing for what i ate, it was absoulutely disgusting

service: average service, not that bad, seated us, got us tea, took our order and gave us our bill, didnt do anything like ask us how the food was

value: for what i ate. TERRIBLE, but i guess for the others its alright

ambiance: not that great as there is an awkward feeling because to get to the washroom ,you have to walk through the doors

all in all, if you go, get the one with the spare rib, NEVER THE CURRY
