Sushi Town5935 Hastings Street, Burnaby

ok... Sushi town isnt REAL sushi... at least by definition, its Korean style sushi so the size of the rolls are different

Despite that, i love sushi and i have a pretty damn good sense of tasting good sushi and having the crap stingy chinese made sushi = ="

anyways... i've been going to sushitown since it opened across the Burnaby North HIghschool and one of my friends' parents knew the owner...

the food back then was EXCEPTIONAL the quality of the rolls was done with great attentiveness. the rice was fresh, and the rolls were 'kept together' and didnt fall apart

the cutting of the rolls was more even...(this was when there were 3-4 head chefs)

now that sushitown has expanded they've employed several chef's in training, and the owner is rarely seen there at the branch.

anyways...the sushi ... isnt cut as well..but it still tastes the same which is important, because consistency is very important.

Best rolls are : Awesome Roll, Dragon Roll or Double Dragon Roll, Spicy Tuna Sashimi, and Spider rolll

Awesome roll is simply awesome and to die for, dragon roll is basically avocado on the inside, wrapped in gnori and UNAGI (salt water eel)

When it comes to service... u have to be understanding, most of the servers are students also its VERY busy. But once u wave ur hand and signal the servers they're usually quite quick to get ur tea or order

in short, if ur patient and understanding, than the servers will treat accordingly.
Sushitown is affordable great FRESH sushi =)

Foo's Ho Ho102 East Pender Street, Vancouver
Best Canadian Chinese Restaurant
Submitted Saturday, January 24, 2009 - 9:25pm [Dine in]

Foo's ho ho is the best CANADIAN chinese restaurant in Vancouver BC. It's been here for OVER 50 years, i kno because my friend's folks have been going there since they were kids.

For a restaurant in CHINATOWN to be there for 50 years, they have to be doing something right.

Anyways, the people there are great and yes its a little empty but back in the day, it was PACKED but due to change in times, patrons have come and gone

The people are kind and there is usually only 1 or 2 servers.

The food is as i said canadian chinese food so dont expect the same oily crap from OTHER chinese restaurants

Best Dishes i've had from the restaurant are the :

Montreal Dry Ribs
Curry Chicken and Potatoes

potatoes taste like french fries in a stew of gravy...but its not gravy its curry and god is it good

there dishes are smaller than most but u pay for quality not quantity

All in all, Foo's ho ho is an old school canadian chinese restaurant that hasnt changed there food in over 50 years and if u have respect for that then DEFINITELY try foo's ho ho =)
