Finally, I "get" Burgoo!
Submitted Monday, December 15, 2014 - 12:07am [Dine in]

I had been to Burgoo three times prior and didn't get the hype!! This time I was determined to order something which represented the restaurant that fans flock to. No more gluten free, sugar free whole food option for me, I was all in for a Kentucky Derby stodgy stew and I hit the jackpot! On the brunch menu the following was advertised;

BBQ Pork Potato Hash,
pulled pork, potato, spinach and roast garlic hash, baked with free run scrambled eggs and Cheddar, finished with our down home BBQ sauce

Two of us ordered this and swore it was the best thing we had eaten "EVER"!!!

It arrived sizzling hot in a cast iron fry pan with lovely thick cheese bubbling and oozing and INVITING. Loads of pulled pork in a very tasty house barbecue sauce, roasted garlic and fried potato hash, complete with scrambled eggs, more cheddar and spinach. Fabulous!!

Big Disappointment
Submitted Friday, December 12, 2014 - 10:57am [Dine in]

As the restaurant opened at 11:00am we arrived at 11:55. The owner (Rose, we were told) had still not shown up and there were people waiting. They said she was on her way. It was pouring rain. Ten minutes later she arrived without the keys. Did I mention it was pouring rain? Another 10 minutes go by and the cook shows up with the keys. My friend had an Entertainment Book coupon which Rose would not honour. It was for dinner not lunch - our mistake. Things are not improving. Saying the food was mediocre is a bit of a stretch as the Pad Thai was stodgy (and $10.00!!). The soup was not heated through. The salad looked sad - I didn't eat it. My friend ordered the Red Curry. It was yellow. The appetizer was $4.99 for two spring rolls - they were the smallest spring rolls I had seen. When we went to pay she mentioned the coupon and we thought she was going to honor it as we certainly had to wait for her. Instead, she said, "Your coupon was probably expired anyways." It didn't expire until Dec. 31, 2014 as we told her. Unbelievable!! Will NOT be going back.
