I made reservations a 3 weeks ahead of time because I heard it was hard to get in and this was definitely the place to try. My bf's mother was in town and neither of us had been there but heard great things. We ordered the classic escargot....absolutely terrible. The theme of the food was bland for our appetizer and entrees. There was no presenation to the dish, the escargot was made in less than 5 mins. One of us ordered the salmon and I ordered the snapper entree. Again, the food was bland. No taste nothing french about these dishes. The salmon was over cooked throughout. When they checked up on us for our first bite we hadn't had our first bite yet. I ate the snapper it wasn't too bad just bland. I tried the salmon and it was terrible. My bf's tenderloin was good.

My bf's mother tried to eat the salmon but didn't finish half of it. It was dry, difficult to swallow every bite. Another server came by and cleared the dish away without noticing that the entree was still on the plate, she didn't ask us. We did tell our server when he asked us if we wanted dessert. He didn't seem to agree with what i said, and said that the salmon is cooked that way on the top. We told him that it was over cooked all the way through. He said he'll tell the boys in the kitchen.

Overall, I was not impressed with the food. Will never go ahead since there was nothing special about the food.

Overpriced Okay Food

I heard lots about the restaurant as it has been around for along time with a respectable reputation. We tried to go to Coast but it was way too busy and thought to check out Joe Fortes. My bf and I both ordered appys, I had ordered crab cakes and my bf ordered the chowder. There's nothing fancy about the crab cakes, nor the chowder. Chowder was bland. I had also wine, not once did the server pour my wine for me. I had the pleasure of doing it all night. No one checked up on us when we had our appys. We waited about 40 mins for our entrees to come out, I had to ask when our food was coming. At this point we were starving and no one has come by to let us know that kitchen was super behind. Finally our entrees arrived. Took one bite and super disappointed. I had ordered the miso sable fish. The bottom was black I could taste the char on it, perhaps that how it was supposed to be made. That's besides the point, the fish was over cooked. I am a huge sable fish eater and this was definitely on the bottom of my list. There was a couple of mushrooms and bok choy on my plate, hardly enough to even notice. My bf ordered the ahi tuna, it came out one sided seared and other side unseared. Again, it was strange but perhaps that was how it was made. Not happy with out food. We were almost done eating when the server finally came to check up on us. By this time, I've already poured my entire half litre myself and eaten most of my food.

Time to pay the bill, the machine goes down and we get a hand written receipt. No break down of the taxes and liquor tax. As we were settling our bill with the trainee she asked how our food was. I told her it was okay, my fish was over cooked and the ahi tuna was okay. She said oh, that is how we make it here. I did not want to argue with her.

I have spread the word and told all of my friends. I found out that a gf of mine was there that same night and experienced the same thing. Slow service, food was okay, over priced okay food. I definitely would not go back again.

Terrible Food!
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 12:46am [Dine in]

My bf and I went to WaaZuBee's for brunch last Sunday. One of the server took our order and then a few minutes later a girl came by and asked for our order. Another girl came by and asked if we had ordered our drinks, which we already did. Our ceasars took forever and there was only 3 other tables there. After our ceasars finally came, our lunch order took even longer. We were both finished our ceasars before our food even came.

I had ordered a Florentine Benny and Salmon Benny which they had allowed me to have one of each and my bf order the tuna sandwich. When the food finally came my food was cold and my egg benny's weren't poached properly. I asked if they could re-cook the eggs and have my hashbrowns heated up. My bf's tuna sandwich was very dry. When my benny's came, the harshbrowns are now raw and and my florentine had one piece of spinach, and other benny was still over cooked and it had no hollonaise sauce. I was not impressed with the food.

The manager came and apologized for my food and offered some thing else, suggested their ceaser salad. I was worried they were going to screw that up, so I didn't bother. I definitely would not go back. I ended up buying sushi at Sushi King afterwards.
