Expectations Exceeded!
Submitted Wednesday, March 19, 2008 - 10:09pm [Dine in]

Unlike the other ratings we did not go for DOV. And each meal came to 4 times as much as the DOV price not including wine. But, it was worth every penny! This is what you expect when you go out to eat!

The food was absolutely amazing. We each had a 5 taster starter - RAVE reviews. Followed by oysters that we heavenly. Following, I had the tuna and my husband had the sable fish for our main course. Everything about the food was stellar!

Service - it was service I would expect from a mid-range restaurant. The waiter did not place my napkin and removal of the cutlery was distracting - at one point we were interrupted and a waitress asked me to pass her the refuse from my chopsticks! Unacceptable in my opinion.

The ambiance is nice. If I were to be picky I would say that it is a bit outdated and could use a revamp. But, that would be being VERY picky! It is nice - no complaints! Kind of coastal cute.

Glowbal Grill and Satay Bar1079 Mainland Street, Vancouver

Our numerous visits to Glowbal always leave our stomachs and our mind happy (we attend roughly once per week).

The service at Glowbal is wonderful. The staff is polite and respectful. The manager walks the floor and ensures that satisfaction is found by Glowbal's clients.

Applause to the chef as we are always pleased by the food! The portions are well sized and as beautiful as they are delicious. However, the house chips are the only point of contention. But, the staff is always happy to sub it out.

We highly recommend Glowbal and cannot wait to try the Italian Kitchen!!!

Griffins Sunday Buffet Brunch
Submitted Sunday, August 26, 2007 - 4:00pm [Dine in]

We found Griffins Sunday Brunch to be mediocre at best. The selection was minimal, the service was absent and the food was average. We were disappointed as we expected so much more for a restaurant situated in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

The buffet consists of a med-small selection of hot dishes, minimal amount of salads, dry scrambled eggs and waffles without whipping cream and fresh fruit. If you are used to an omelet station this is not the brunch for you as we found that it lacked the usual trappings of brunch buffets.

If the mediocre level of food was not enough to ensure we never return the level of service will keep us away. A sous chef were seen picking fallen food up off of the counter and returning it to the serving dish. Note: upon telling the manager she did speak with the chef and we did see him speaking to his line. In addition the serve staff was too busy gossiping about another customer complaint to serve us and we repeatedly had to ask for coffee, juice and our cutlery.

Overall, we would not recommend this brunch and do advise that you spend your $35/pp somewhere else.
