Have had 2 recent dinners at the Bistro and was very pleased both times with the dining experience. Very fresh salads and soups served and the main courses were always consistent in quality and nicely portioned. One of the favorites is the Seafood Cotriade. The owners and staff are always very welcoming and the ambiance is cozy. Definitely a favorite for the local area clientele.

Lovely Dining Experience

Just spent a lovely Friday evening dining at this fine Ladner restaurant. Have visited this venue on occasion for many years now and have had mainly very good experiences with just the odd time where either the food was not necessarily that terrific or the service a bit lacking, but not enough to deter us from returning.

Last evening though, everything fell into place in all respects. Had a wonderful appetizer of grilled prawns in a delicate sauce and followed that with the rack of lamb which was accompanied with a medley of varied vegetables, all delicious.

Finished my meal with a very tasty trio of dessert consisting of a delicate choc. mousse, ice cream and poached fruit, served individually on an elongated plate.

My spouse had a different seafood appetizer followed with the beef tenderloin and then fresh seasonal fruit and sorbet for dessert. All were wonderful as well.

The proportions of each dish were more than adequate and it was all good value. The owner Bruno Marti was in attendance that evening and is always the charming host. Briefly came out to say hello to the diners but was definitely kept busy in the kitchen along with his executive chef, as the restaurant was quite busy.

Also had a fellow playing classical guitar which added to the overall pleasant experience.

Would not hesitate to recommend this top notch dining venue to anyone who wishes a quality meal in an attractive and comfortable setting.

Solid Choice

Visited this restaurant for the first time and found it to be quite satisfactory. The overall ambience was ok and the servers were pleasant. It was a Saturday night and was very busy and my only complaint with the service was that the dishes ordered were arriving too quickly and we felt a little hurried because of this.

There were 4 of us dining together and even though the food was arriving in a flurry at times, one member of our group had to wait quite a while before any of her choices were served.

The overall quality and flavor of the food was quite good and there certainly was plenty of variety offered on the extensive menu. I know others have commented about small portions however none of us found this to be the case and were pleased with the size of each dish and found them comparable to other Japanese establishments we have visited.

Also did not find it overly expensive. It was comparable to other Japanese dining venues.
