Dine Around Victoria - overall, not bad
Submitted Wednesday, March 11, 2009 - 6:20pm [Dine in]

VALUE: Went for dinner on a saturday night with friends during the "Dine Around Victoria" event. Both menu offerings (a $20 & $30) were pretty good - there were steak choices on both (a priority for us), and for our friends, there were multiple seafood choices, and a chicken option as well.

FOOD: Food was solid. Nothing exceptional. The steaks were done to order, and we had no complaints about the food. serving sizes were adequate.

SERVICE: Hostess and Waitress were nice. Not stupid, thank God. the waitress was good about asking us when we wanted the next course. but, we asked at least three times for more water, and the waitress never brought us more.

AMBIANCE: Dining room was very crowded. To get to the washroom, you had to shimmy through tables, and brush up against the backs of people's chairs. The atmosphere was very loud. at about 9:30 they cranked the night club atmosphere, so we left.

Suggestions: Naan bread appy, and the cheesecake for dessert!

it's a shame the service was so bad... food is amazing!

Went for dinner last year with a group of 6 girls - we were interested in spending the entire evening there (and lots of money) buying multiple rounds of tapas and lots of [alcoholic] drinks (their sangria is fabulous!) - The evening started off good, but as more people entered the restaurant, the staff couldn't keep up. We moved to the "order your next drink when you get the first one" approach, to keep the drinks flowing, but even that didn't keep our glasses full. It’s a real shame, because the food was TO DIE FOR!! We tried everything, and loved it all! The problem was the service, though... We ended up leaving after we were basically sitting around in a small, crowded, noisy space waiting for someone to bring us ANYTHING - any of the food and drinks we'd ordered would have been nice! So we cancelled our pending orders, and asked for the bill and left.

the worst part, was that on our way out the manager gave us his card and extended an offer to comp a meal on our next visit, and told me to email him, and when I did, I got NO response. Nothing.

The whole experience pleased my palette but left a truly sour taste in my mouth. I just shake my head. The restaurant has so much potential, but very poor customer service. (I hope they have improved since I was there.)

lunch - great service, great food
Submitted Thursday, February 14, 2008 - 12:05am [Dine in]

went for lunch the other day and got greeted with a smile. service was quick and attentive. drinks came quickly, and we ordered as we were ready (no waiting). the food came quickly. the kitchen split my meal 1/2 plated and 1/2 to go at no extra charge. i had a big salad - i forget the name of it, but it had egg, chicken, avocado and other veggies. 1/2 was a perfect lunch-sized meal. my brother had a spicy chicken bowl, and it was good as always. i have no complaints. oh yeah, and i love the bathrooms... clean, they have an automatic seat liner and a foot button to flush - LOVE that!
