I am pretty disappointed with this restaurant because of their food and their pricing.

Service: Fair

I can’t really comment on their service since I only ordered takeout from them. But from my experience of paying them and waiting for my order, they were friendly enough. My order also arrived at the time they said it would so this is another plus.

Food: Disappointing

I have never been to a Japanese restaurant where the rolls fall apart before I even touch them until now. Their rolls are not properly made and fall apart inside the takeout box. I have ordered takeout from other Japanese restaurants and they have never once fallen apart. Aside from their improperly made rolls, I find that the size of their rolls is also quite small. For the small size, the rolls do not taste noticeably better compared to other Japanese restaurants.

Value: Pricey

The price they charge for their food is a bit pricey given the small portion size of their food.

Ambiance: Neat

I have nothing to complain about the ambiance of this place. It’s clean, spacious, and has nice decorations, just like many other Japanese restaurants.

Overall: Bad

This place is not horrible but I would not recommend this place due to their food and value. After all, there are better Japanese restaurants elsewhere.

This Place is horrible. The service is so awful that, although the food is good, it is no worth trying.

Service: Terrible

Their staffs are fairly rude, particularly one female waitress. After the first hour, we were being discourage, by that one waitress, from ordering anymore food and were constantly reminded that we had to leave in an hour. That waitress also rushed us to leave the table and pay our bill. The staffs are also quite dishonest because the seafood we ordered did not arrive until the second hour. And, the seafood only arrived because I asked for its whereabouts. If not, we would not have gotten any seafood. They take very seriously their two hour time limit and consequently, they rush their customers and make dining experience very unpleasant, to say the least.

Food: Tasty

This is probably the only redeeming quality of this place. Their ingredients are mostly fresh, save the shrimps, and pretty tasty too. I am especially impressed with the size and taste of their oysters. I do not have anything to complain about the food.

Value: Expensive

For a meal that cost almost $30 without being full, it’s a little too expensive for my taste.

Ambiance: Modern

The ambiance is nice and modern. The place is well lit and quite spacious. I guess this is the other redeeming quality of this place.

Overall: Avoid

Obviously, I would not recommend this place to anyone even if you happen to be someone who can order your food selection, wait for your selection, cook your food, and finish your food all in less than 2 hours.

I’ve been to many Japanese restaurants but none can compare to I Love Sushi in terms of value, food, and service.

Food: Fresh and tastes great.

For the lunch menu priced at around $10, it is pretty extensive and offers not only Japanese food but also Malaysian and Chinese food. They also offer ramen in their AYCE menu so that is definitely something special compared to other AYCE Japanese restaurant. Aside from their menu, I really appreciate the fact that they do not cut my orders in half. In other places, they deliberately cut my orders of sashimi in half. So if I order 10, they serve me 5. Although this is not a big deal, it becomes very annoying if every AYCE place does that. Granted, I Love Sushi does miss orders once in a while but that is not a problem as we can always order again. The food itself is pretty tasty, especially for only $10 (B-menu) and $13 for the C-menu that includes unlimited salmon and tuna sashimi.

Service: Friendly and attentive.

I’m not very picky about service. As long as they are friendly, deliver what we asked for (within reasonable boundaries), and fill our cups when it’s almost empty, then I’m satisfied. Strangely, many AYCE sushi places cannot fulfill the above criteria so I’m happy that this place does. Our first time there, the manager even came to recommended and explain the origins of the ingredients, which I also appreciate.

Value: Reasonable

The B-menu for lunch has the best value for $10. The C-menu with sashimi is also very reasonable at $13. The dinner menu is pricier at around $20 (B-menu) but it’s worth it for the increase food selection and service.

Ambiance: Bright, clean, and spacious.

The place itself is fairly neat and clean. There are also many big windows and lights which makes dining more enjoyable. The restaurant itself it pretty big and the washrooms are also clean. It is a pity that not many people dine here (at least not during the times that my family and I went there) because this place deserves more customers than other AYCE sushi places such as Fish On Rice.

It is definitely worth checking out. I just wish that it wasn’t so far. If I live in North Van, I’d definitely go there more often. Hopefully, this place maintains its standards.
