Connie's ROCKS!
Submitted Saturday, January 10, 2009 - 10:21am [Dine in]

I've been going to Connie's now for a year or so, and I'm ALWAYS impressed. The veggies are fresh and crisp, the sauces aren't too salty or greasy, and the noodles are perfectly cooked. I'm a vegetarian and I always find good stuff to eat.

My husband, who's not a vegetarian, has similarly positive things to say about the meat dishes.

The service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is warm, with no pretense. You'll be pleased!

Bland and blander
Submitted Saturday, January 10, 2009 - 10:14am [Dine in]

I'd had a particularly rough week at work, so my husband and I decided to treat ourselves by going to Topanga for a plate of nachos (me) and some pork dish (my husband).

While waiting for the food to arrive, we got presented with a complimentary serving of tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were STALE and looked like something you'd get out of a generic brand purchased at the local corner store. The chips were so stale that I began to regret ordering the nachos, knowing that they'd be using the same chips.

When my nachos arrived, I immediately felt deflated. The order was 1/2 the size I thought it would be (I ordered a full order at $13!), and it was simply a pile of chips, with a few shreds of hard-to-find cheese, topped with a bizarrely large dollop of sour cream and guacamole. To give you an idea, I normally LOVE nachos. These were the blandest, most stale, boring nachos I've had. I left 2/3 on my plate, because the sour cream had started to make the chips soggy because there was no cheese to serve as a buffer. (Oh, my husband's dinner wasn't any better)

When my husband and I left the restaurant (disappointed), we joked "Ok, where are we going for a REAL dinner?"

Don't waste your time or your money. It's a real disappointment at Topanga!
