Red Door Pan Asian Grill2996 Granville St, Vancouver
Great food, when they actually cook it
Submitted Thursday, May 11, 2006 - 3:26pm [Dine in]

I've gone 3 times to the Red Door, and I have to say, the food tastes wonderful. I've sampled about 6-7 dishes, and they are all so flavorful and tasty. My one complaint - the first time we ate there, we ordered the chicken satay. It tasted good, but I noticed that the texture was little funny. I ignored it, and due to the dim lighting I didn't notice anything funny. When we came down to the last few bites, my husband finally noticed something: The chicken was cooked on the outside, but totally raw on the inside. We called over the waitress, who went and got the manager. He apologized and offered us free dessert, but at that point, we felt so sick we just wanted to go home. We didn't end up getting good poisoning, but the stress of wondering if we were going to made us both queasy for about a week. So my warning is, CHECK the chicken before you eat it!

That said, we're going back again tonight, so obviously the food is worth trying!

Caffe Artigiano2154 W 41st Ave, Vancouver
Great alternative to Starbucks
Submitted Sunday, March 12, 2006 - 8:59pm [Dine in]

I've never been to any of the Caffe Artigiano's until tonight, and I was very impressed. The service was fine, nice atmosphere, awesome lattes and panini sandwiches. Was a really nice change from Starbucks. Prices were also really decent. Apparently they will be serving a $5 per cup coffee soon that is just amazing...they paid a record amount for these beans (like, 100 times the regular price). Can't wait to try it!
