Stopped in for lunch, hamburger was good but bun fell apart and it was very messy. Clubhouse sandwich was okay, mushroom soup was very good. Service was pleasant but slow. My daughter ordered a ChiChi and it was not at all to her liking, bland and warm. Clean with well spaced tables, nice historical decor.
Can't say as though we'd go here again when in New West.
Finally got a chance to return for dim sum and I was not at all dissapointed. We were seated quickly and served right away. The food was hot and delicious. So many items to choose from, and the servers were constantly circulating with carts and trays fresh from the kitchen. They kept the tea topped up without being asked to, we really liked this.
I especially loved the pork pastries, flaky and tender with a slightly sweet filling, mmmm.......
Price was not too steep for 2 of us, we had 6 plates/baskets for $30.00 and even took home leftovers.
I found this White Spot to have the most friendly staff of any.
We were greeted warmly by a hostess with a smile and really warm sparkly personality. Good quick service and prompt refills.
The food was good as always.
The decor okay, just usual White Spot nothing to write home about.
We arrived during the lunch rush but waited less than 5 minutes for a table. Decor not fancy, but tables cleared quickly and were washed well.
Dim Sum tasted very good, nice variety outside of Chinatown.
Tea was plentiful, replenished when lid lifted.
Service was prompt, polite and requests were met quickly.
Take away order was well packed and ready when we were.
Overall I was very impressed with the quality of the food and I found the staff to be friendly and helpful.
I will definitely be returning here, would like to try dinner next time.
My brother recommended this restaurant, and he was right it was really good. I had the lunch special of a spring roll, chicken in black bean sauce and shredded chicken chow mein. Everything was prepared to perfection and tasted great!
The service was prompt and friendly, no need to wait either.
It was very neat and clean with a tasteful decor.
Two lunch specials and green tea was only $21.10 - good value because the portions were very generous.
I will definitely return when I'm in Vancouver.
Stopped by for a relaxing cup of tea and found this shop to fit the bill.
Friendly patient service - I was sniffing numerous containers before I made my choice. There is nothing like this in the Valley, so it was a nice experience. My daughter and I sat in a quiet corner and enjoyed our teas, we felt unhurried and relaxed, this is a nice quiet spot from the busy street. We didn't eat anything, so can't comment on the food.
Well this wasn't quite what I expected - I guess I'm not familiar with "Hong Kong" style.
There was an abundance of western dishes on the menu; like spaghetti, chicken cutlets, steaks, russian borscht, french toast etc..... It was not a typical chinese restaurant that's for sure.
Now the food was good, no question there - We had shanghai noodles and sweet & sour pork with rice. I would have liked to have had a vegetable dish but there weren't any any on the menu. The Hong Kong tea with milk was okay, but I'd have preferred a more traditional chinese jasmine.
Can't say I'd go out of my way to go here again.
I recently attended a private buffet luncheon at Cheers and I can't say enough about the meal.
The buffet selection was extensive, the food presented artfully and it all tasted fantastic!
The salmon was very fresh and cooked to perfection, I especially liked the crab legs and seaweed salad.
The dessert selection was overwhelming and topped up when it got low. This was by far the best meal I've had in a long time.
We had very attentive service, from friendly staff.
I was very impressed, and I definitely will return when I am in North Van again.
I went here for lunch - we had to wait quite a while for the server to return. odd because we were the only customers at that time.
I, like another reviewer had the tri-colour pasta - my impression was just okay, not great. My dining companions also said their meals were just okay.
Considering the price of over $50.00 for 3 with no alcohol it was quite a bit for a so-so lunch.
I would not go here again.
I agree with May 21/07 reviewer - the food we had was excellent.
I had a larger portion than I could eat, the pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious.
As for the wait staff, we had a lovely waitress who attended our every need, was quick to respond to our requests and fill our drinks. I have no complaints, in fact I have recently tried another Italian restaurant nearby that was not nearly as good as La Spaghetteria.
On my recent trip to Victoria we had breakfast here - it was the best I've ever eaten. The cream cheese/maple syrup was outstanding. We ate every scrap and enjoyed it to the last bite.
The service was prompt and friendly, our server was very hospitable and quick to bring refills.
I highly recommend John's.
Had a great lunch here last week.
Lasagna was filling and really tasty, salad bar didn't have as much choice as it used to but the quantity and quality were fine.
Could do with a remodel soon - lots of potential.
Staff were very attentive and friendly.
We had a great lunch here, the decor is, well 50's as expected.
The food was excellent.
Great service from a very friendly and personable server.
We didn't see any "undesirables" just a variety of people enjoying a meal.
