Nuba1206 Seymour, Vancouver
Nice idea, poor execution
Submitted Wednesday, December 5, 2007 - 5:38pm [Dine in]

So I have given Nuba the third and final chance. Went there last night and waited 1/2 an hour for a take out order (2 wraps and some dry grilled potatos) no exageration. There was one other person waiting and one table of dine-in patrons so there was no reason for it to take that long. The girl behind the 'counter' was aloof and disinterested in taking my order, never apologized for the wait or offered any explanation. i heard her say to the woman in the kitchen "Do you think this would be easier if I wasn't stoned?" NICE. After waiting for the food, got it home to find they had not only messed up on both orders, but also that the food was cold and fairly bland. Perhaps Nuba could benefit from a more stringent hiring policy, instead of basing their hiring on how cool and thin and moody their aplicants are. Seriously will never be back.

Yamato Sushi616 Davie St, Vancouver
Best in Downtown area
Submitted Wednesday, December 5, 2007 - 5:10pm [Dine in]

Although I am a dedicated Sushiyama paron, Yamato is for sure a very close second, and always my first choice when looking for great sushi downtown. A little on the tiny side, this place is best suited for take-out, unless you don't mind a dozen hungry people watching you eat while they wait for their food. Food is always fresh, delicious and served quickly but never sloppy. Service is excellent, friendly and always very happy to suggest something new or interesting. The combo boxes are a great deal and the philidelphia-style roll is amazing.
