I go to Nu's often for brunch on Sunday's and I have to say, for Brunch, it gets 5 stars accross the board. Food = amazing. My favourite dish is the omelette with the figs (can't remember name) value $14. The ambiance is incredible. Live Jazz music/singer, beautiful location above the Yatch club on the water under the bridge. Table 52 (I think it is) is one of the best spots for a date. The service has always been above and beyond by every server I have had. They always do their best to give me the best tables and you always get a little complimentary mini hot chocolate and scone.
The last time I was there the food was not as good (ordered what I always order), I think it was jsut a bad day in the kitchen? Every other time has been amazing.
I have never eaten there for dinner or lunch. Just brunch on Sunday's and I highly recommend it.
Foundation is an all time fave because I can rely on their menu to nourish my body! As someone who is health conscious, and on the go 24/7, i eat out way to often. So, foundation has some innovative ways to get lentils, beans, quinoa, papaya, mango, tofu and spinach in to my system! Their prices are great $7-10/dinner! I recommend the Lower East Side on quinoa.
The service is terrible (not going to lie), and I can see how people would label it as 'pretentious hipster' as I’ve read in other reviews. It may take 10 minutes to be acknowledged or seated. The kitchen is also super slow; mind you the chefs are hard working. I think it is because they use regular stoves so things are done on a much smaller scale.
Personally I don't care much about the service, just love the food.
Brioche makes some incredible, authentic italian dishes. Most of their food is cooked from scratch, so, though it is quite riche, it is not really too unhealthy. Try their asparagus crab salad. It is amazing. Or their home made Gnochi. The pricepoint is a little steep than other lunch spots in the neighbourhood, but considering everything is made from scratch I think it is worth it. They treat their regular custimers like gold. Stephan and the girls at the front desk are awesome!
