This place is small, i suppose one could say 'cozy' but that would be stretching things past the breaking point. My family went there on Saturday and found the place busy as to be expected, the lame part wasn't waiting for good food and good service, instead we waited 40 minutes for a crap table right beside the entrance way, a place where no table belongs as you get the constant rush of cold air each time the door opens-which is often. The service was then slow to non existent, i realize they are busy but i would categorize it as grossly understaffed. My pancake was bunt on the bottom (another sign of a rushed establishment being run on the cheap) my coffee was only refilled once and the service was rude and short. Non apologetic for the lousy service and i won't be coming back to this location. De Dutch is an otherwise great place to eat but this place is awful and needs to be reviewed on how they run things, either pony up and hire more people or limit your already limited seating.

This place is essentially a legend, known for good quality food, huge portions, gorgeous servers. The downside is that the servers are bitches who think the are 'owed' a tip simply for picking up takeout and they all have real attitudes. The food is i would say above average quality, not great, but certainly avoid their meat if you don't like gristle or the taste of poor quality meat. They really pack the dining area, all open tables so you get to know your neighbors very well, sights, smells and dinner conversation (people talk really boisterously loud there). I really liked using this place for take out until recently when they implemented a no take out policy during the hours of 5-8pm. So basically ive almost written this place off. Its sort of the italian equivalent of Stepho's greek restaurant in downtown vancouver.
