Good Alternative to Sushi Garden if you dont want to wait
Submitted Monday, August 3, 2009 - 11:58pm [Dine in]

As per title, usually there isn't much of a line up, so you can sit down right away instead of the long line up at Sushi Garden. The food is not as good as Sushi Garden however, but close.

I usually get one of their sashimi combo that comes with 4 or 5 pieces of sashimi plus a roll of sushi. Their friendly staff lets you change the sashimi (either salmon or tuna) depending on your taste.
They also have lunch specials for you to order at dinner time. If you get the lunch combo that comes with tempura and cali rolls, ask them to give you tempura souce and no terriyaki souce on tempura, unless you like to eat tempura with terriyaki souce.

After 9pm they have HongKong cafe style dishes for $5~8 and that comes with a drink. It's a place to go when you are hungry at night and many places are closed.
Only a few dishes on that menu taste good however, one of them is the black pepper chicken. Their spicy and sour soup is pretty good also for the price. Basically you get a bit better than what you pay compare to other places.

Authentic Spicy Food
Submitted Monday, August 3, 2009 - 11:38pm [Dine in]

One of the better place in Vancouver area for some great spicy chinese food.
The "strange" after taste that FineDiningMom described is probably Sichuan peppercorn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sichuan_peppercorn
And wiki for that tofu dish
Many places that sell Mapo tofu don't have that.

I love spicy food including the numbing taste :p Some of my favorite dishes (cumin lamb, the spicy fried chicken pieces that have lots of pepper in it) have already been mentioned by some earlier reviewers.

Some cons are the place is really small, you might have to wait quite bit to get a table. If you have a big party, it might be difficult to get enought tables during busy hours.
