Sula Indian Restaurant1130 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Good to see Palki Packed
Submitted Tuesday, October 4, 2011 - 2:25pm [Dine in]

Went for dinner last friday, and the restaurant was packed, servers quickly setup a table of 4 for us, the restaurant has great ambiance with low lighting candles dazzling on every part of the restaurant, the tables are thick heavy wood furniture. Indian restaurants dont seem to give attention to ambiance but they have done a great job adding rich colors like purple and dark grey.

Servers moved around quickly, we had 3 servers serving us and they also served the whole restaurant coordinating very well with each other our food was served to our table very quickly and 5 more candles were added to the table as each curry is brought out on a small chafing dish with candles kept our food warm.

We asked for extra spicy and it was prepared exactly like we asked they also brought us hot sauce and yoghurt sauce if one of us felt very hot or mild. Food is excellent garlic naan is top class, they have lots of vegetarian options too. Restaurant was noisy and full of people which is good for them.

Have lived in commercial drive area for long and have seen lot of restaurants come and go. I hope Palki stays.

We found this restaurant online and ordered delivery before, they seem to have a system which saves customer info, they know our address every-time we call. overall its nice to have a good Indian restaurant in the neighborhood

Spent a birthday dinner for two here. Despite it being a Tues. night, it was relatively busy. The staff were wonderfully accomodating. We were seated in the lounge area in a nice cosy little enclave. The Belgian Beers were exemplary and delicious. Both of us being vegetarian, our choices were limited. However, they were very accomodating again to the extent of giving us two choices which did not include the usual boring Risotto offering that most restaurants provide. The food was some of the best gourmet vegetarian we have ever had. The service was fantastic!! Definitely going back.

Cafe Medina780 Richards St, Vancouver
nice work medina

Like I've said before... I like cafes, especially those that offer a modern interpretation of classic flavours and Cafe Medina takes the cake, or waffle as the case may be.
I went in for brunch with a friend, who is a model and is very careful about what she eats so I was a little worried about what Medina had to offer her but she smiled as soon as she looked at the menu so my mind was at ease.
I ordered the cassoulet and she had the "libanais". They were both excellent. The cassoulet had a slab of smokey bacon and three healthy chunks of sausage. The eggs were a decent sunny side up but could have set the whites a little more but I am ok with it. The beans were perfect, the seasoning was perfect and everything was hot.
The Libanias was excellent as well and we polished the skillets down to the last swipe of bread.
The coffee is good (not the best but very good).
The service was good, not as exceptional as at their sister restaurant Chambar but that is a tall order as they did seem to neglect us a bit on one of the outside tables. Not too bad as we were in a great conversation.
Over all I would give it a 4.5/5 with just a little more attention to service and a perfect sunny side up egg and this could be my favorite place for brunch in Vancity.
Nice work Medina!

The atmosphere is elegant, even waiting was elegant. This is a very crowded and noisy place so be warned. Noisy? means people are having fun. The long wait in the room at the back was made easy by the periodic free tidbits sent out from the kitchen to tide you over.
Once seated and a look at the menu and you will be impressed. This is a fusion Indian restaurant which marries various herbs and spices to create magical courses which will sooth your soul and excite your taste buds. Nothing that I have tried here has dissapointed me.
