We often eat at Little Mexico and I feel compelled to speak on the great food, great service and great atmosphere. The taquitos are positively "crave-worthy" and the homemade salsa beats any I have eaten before. The service is consistently prompt and polite, and often the servers and owners will recognize us by name. This is what we pay to go out to eat for!
Red Door is easily one of the best restaurants in Vancouver. The food is fantastic, the servers are attentive and the atmosphere is funky. The "Shakin Beef" is probably the best dish in the house but Calamari, Chicken Satay, Pineapple Rice, and Pepper Scallops are worth trying too! BRAVO.... it's great to see good value, good food, and welcoming servers!
After much anticipation a few friends and myself decided to try Blue Canoe in Steveston and were overwhelmingly disappointed. While the waitress was pleasant enough she was not nearly as attentive to the table as we would have expected. We became a little discouraged when nobody on the patio (where we were seated) had a plate of food in front of them after we had been there for about 20 minutes. The "sliders" (mini-burgers) tasted oddly like McDonalds patties on somewhat stale buns and the Chicken Sandwich was not only extremely small but had approximately 30 grams of chicken on the bun... and way too much (what tasted like) Heinz apple baby food (or was it supposed to be pear??). The wait for the food was approximately 25 minutes and following lunch we were neither offered coffee nor desert. We will not return to this restaurant.
