Waitresses are pretty but that's what you pay for

Unlike some of my friends I like Cactus club food - it is actually pretty good. I'd say their food is the best of the major chain restaurants in Vancouver. I enjoy their burgers, entrees, and rice bowls. But the problem is the value is now horrid.

Essentially what you are paying for are the pretty servers - and when you realize this, the second thought in your head is: I figure I might as well go to a "gentleman's club". Unfortunately Cactus club is now more of place to be seen than to eat,

I think it is probably a good business model so I am not knocking them. I just wish the dining experience was more like it was when it was a small shop with a few locations that just happened to have pretty servers.

Best dish: Cajun Chicken Burger
Best Server: Curly haired brunette with green eyes.

Total for the two items: $$$$ + HST

Favorite Gelato Place

I've been coming here for years and I have to say it is still great - I wasn't sure what the other complaints are.

Whenever we have relatives with kids visiting us we take them and they are amazed by the smells looks of the place.

The flavors are wide ranging and comprehensive and I have never had a bad one to-date. The only complaint is, it can be a bit expensive. Not the most expensive Gelato i've seen but on the more pricey side.

Try their coconut gelato - a basic flavor but no one else gets it quite right.

Enjoyed the food

I really enjoyed the food although it was a bit spicy for me. The vegetarian selection was much larger than I had expected, which was a welcome change. The lentil falafel type balls in butter cream sauce were my favorite dish and I we also enjoyed the chilli paneer served on long grain rice.

Service was very friendly and the server guided me through the menu and put up quite pleasantly with my questions.

The location is beautiful although a bit hard to find. Definitely worth a try.
