this is more like a drinking party atmosphere
Submitted Monday, August 24, 2009 - 1:06am [Dine in]

my first feelings about this restaurant is that it's going to be great because i love Japanese Tapas.

we waited for almost an hour cause we didnt make reservations. this is a busy packed restaurant lounge.

we had a large group and sat on a round table. i mean we were surrounded by dark walls, semi lighted area, but nothing that special. those round tables were soo hard to get in because u have to walk up on this uprised thing that was soo stickyyyy because people are drinking.

we ordered around 5 or 6 plates and the portions were really tiny. they seem as if they were snacks for the drinks but not meant to be as a meal. for the price of the portion we were getting with average quality i didnt think the dishes were worth it at all.

the workers were veryy happy, helpful and outgoing.
i even saw a worker drink a shot with a table. is that even allowed?

anyway i will only come here if i have a party or sth.

orders went wrong
Submitted Wednesday, August 5, 2009 - 1:40am [Dine in]

I went to Ajisen Ramen with my friends a month ago and was tremendously impressed that they have added much more to their menus than they had first opened. Thumbs up here.

The server took our order and in no time our food was ready; however, when our orders came, that's went everything started going downhill.

My friend had ordered a beef teriyaki, but received a chicken rice dish instead. What the picture had shown on the menu was not even the same as it came on the plate. What disappointment. We told the server that it was wrong and they corrected but they didnt give us a new prepared plate, but rather just took the chicken and sauce and replaced it with teriyaki.
My friends and I who have ordered ramen were not impressed with the servings given. I ordered I believed a beef ramen and they gave me I'd say 4 thin slices of beef with not much ramen to make me full. This is not my first time here and a year ago, my ramen bowl wasn't that unfulfilling.

Anyway, I'm really disappointed in their ramen. The rice dishes are only average as well. So if you come here, don't expect big servings. Dont expect to be full.

Also, the servers had too much time in their hands... they were just talking amongst each other most of the time.

Another thing I should mention is that the door handle to the washroom is broken... Umm.... no good comment here.

Double thumbs down!

dishes need more work
Submitted Saturday, May 9, 2009 - 9:17pm [Dine in]

This restaurant was quite wide where 1/3 of the store was a bakery and the other 1/3 was an ice cream shop. That last 1/3 in the center was for dining.
There was no wait and I wonder how they manage to see people go in and out because the restaurant was sectioned off by walls.
In just a few minutes, our server came and handed us the menu and filled our glasses up.
We ordered 3 dishes and one had to be the butter chicken.
Surprisingly, the butter chicken serving did not manage to meet our expectation. The bowl contained mostly sauce and not much chicken but it was made well as compared to the other dishes we ordered Another surprising thing is that our appetizer contained more chicken then the butter chicken. I thought the Naan garlic bread needed more taste and texture but the portions were big.
The service was good as he made a few visits to see how everything was going.
I would go here again, not for their dining food, but maybe check out their bakery or their ice cream.
