Great Spinach and Lotus Root!
Submitted Friday, June 22, 2007 - 10:55pm [Dine in]

I've been to Zakkushi many times and I highly recommend it. Its a great place to go with a few friends and the prices are fantastic for the value.

A few favourites are:
Spinach and Lotus Root Salad - fantastic dressing and great portion.
Fried Squid Calamari - excellent with a mustard based sauce.
The sticks are great, especially the beef with daikon and asparagus with bacon.
I love the Mochi - sticky fried rice.
Mango pudding, as stated by someone else is delicious.

A great spot to go, but its becoming more and more necessary to make a reservation.

Mediocre at Best

There aren't many options in Crescent Beach and as we go there quite frequently I thought I would give the Harbour House one last chance. This was my third visit. The decor is beautiful, the building great and the location is fantastic. The food and service is none of the above. I won't go in to too many details of the food but the lamb entree - barely tasted like lamb, the cut of meat was stringy and tough. The halibut wasn't seasoned and was dry and overcooked. The prices are ridiculous for the quality of food. The server was pretentious and phony. The chef came around to do a round in the restaurant to talk to a few patrons and was equally pretentious and phony. I have since spoken to a few friends who live in the area and they have all suggested to skip Harbour House in favour of Crescent Beach Bistro or the Beecher Street Cafe.
