Avoid this Place - Great Packaging...Little or No Value
Submitted Thursday, June 24, 2010 - 2:04pm [Dine in]

If you enjoy sickly sweet and sour pork, an incredibly confusing menu, poor food value, and cheap fortune cookies then Wok Box is for you.

I was really confused when entering this eatery - its really a mall food court style setup with nicer sit down restaurant. The people are nice enough, but truly the food is subpar. Upon entering, the server at the counter apologizes for the menu - telling me its confusing. It sure is! They have names like "Jungle Curry" - like you supposed to know what that is. No useful pictures to speak of.

I saw a bunch of teens furiously wok frying noodles and putting them into shiny take out boxes - neat hey? The portions are tiny and laughable- with very, very little quality ingredients for an astonishing $6.99!

I ordered the Pho noodles - HUGE MISTAKE! It took over 20 minutes to arrive and when it did, it was a greasy, sloppy mess consisting of a meager portion of white noodles and the fattiest thinly sliced beef known to mankind. When I commented to the server about the absolute lack of vegetables or greenery, she commented that I could add hotsauce to it! Huh? Gee thanks...

Never again Wok Box, never again.

Chops Lounge...A terrible place to watch the Canucks game!
Submitted Sunday, April 18, 2010 - 8:45pm [Dine in]

Chops Lounge was below the grade. I went to watch the Canucks game at Chops, on Saturday, to watch Game 2.

Chops Lounge had a very strange, round configuration. At the Bar there are 4 Tv's, 2 on top of each other and no TV's in the middle!!! for some reason, management thought it more necessary to put two whole shelves of Empty Vodka Bottles in an attempt to look stylish and sheik. This arrangement means, patrons sitting at the bar have to turn there heads to watch the game, this is really inconvenient and bizarre.

Now onto the food.

The waiter pushed the Lobster dip on us pretty hard, so we obliged. Then I order the Rockfish salad, and then the "Chop Platter"

I can tell you that the food was incredibly salty. Beyond reason. The dip was a creamy, salty mess, served with melba toast, and the Rockfish salad was blended fish in a creamy salty mess, on top of romaine lettuce. When the Chops platter arrived, it was a deep fried, salty mess. My tongue is still aching after eating here. When I complained to the server about the brown, deep fried, overly salty platter, I recommended that there be some greens, at least celery....he just stared blankly at me and said "ok".

Give this place a pass...

Cloud Nine1400 Robson Street, Vancouver
Geriatrics Ward or Upscale Restaurant?
Submitted Friday, May 2, 2008 - 4:04pm [Dine in]

I took an out of town date on a special dinner Downtown. My goal, to impress her with a spectacular view of the city.

Cloud 9 is the unquestionably best view of the city, water mountains...

What really surprised me was the utter neglect for the upkeep of restaurant and staff. It had a ratty, old and abandoned look and feel to it.

Kind of like a Bino's or Denny's in the sky.

My friend commented that the serving staff must have a minimum age requirement of 65+ to work there.

The food was passable but far from great.

The bathrooms are still oddly located and there is a cheap laser printed sign "Smoking Room Permanently Closed Jan 2007" on one of Doors...like thanks for telling me that.

The whole hotel needs a revamping, but Cloud 9 could be such a great place.

Overall an alright experience but far from great.
